the port replicator ish so cool, increase my Fujitsu s6420 laptop from 3 usb ports to 6 ports!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Port rep is a good investment especially if you depend solely on the notebook for use @ home or to bring out.

Can just connect up ur printer, speakers, mouse etc etc, reach home and just dock ur notebook..

But if i'm not wrong, the AC have to be connected to it rather than onto the notebook AC port..

But the price abit high also..How much you got ur's??

Hi Gixxerfied,

I think that service guy told me about those things too. Wasn't sure what it was but hope it works. I've already sent it to the center for diagnosis.Hopefully they will do something about it.

Thanks for your advice. :)

G :D

Hi there gtpt86, i have check it up on the widely use google and read some articles on your issue as yours is the new icore and i was interested to know if the issue still persist. Previously some duo core/core2 have such kind of incidents which my old Fujitsu encountered and as fellow forumer Gixxerfied mention it can be turn solve by disabling the power management(it works on mine as i have tried). Currently the sound which which you heard like the rest of the world giving feedbacks on tech forums could be sounds made from the processor/chipset which is normal as processors when being utilize and process with current going through definitely wil have slight buzzing, soft pitch/beep or static sounds. Unless your ears are very sensitive you do not really hear them unless a super quiet environment or place your ears near the processor and i do not think any one of us will do that. Some URL links for your reference below which states most likly got to do with the processors managing the power which causes the sound.

Seems like it is not only your Fujitsu notebook having this little wining sound made as back in the previous processors like the duo core/core 2 already having this issue.

Hope all the above information helps you out to make you feel better that you actually did not have a defective notebook like i thought i had one too when 3 years ago i had a Fujitsu S6311 and also gives out similar issue. You can go type "CPU whine" or "CPU noise from notebook" and google will show all relevant URLs on forums etc.

Cheers

Want to buy fujitsu then dun try to save the little money la.......... L series was meant to be cheap model and u should expect this kind of things one...

My s series model nvr give me prob........

Not everyone is as rich as u that can and be able to have that extra little money. If every model including Fujitsu only have high end models i think only people with extra cash can afford. And FYI when i was at the service center this girl who just bought the SH560 had to bring her whole notebook down including her box to demand a refund when it cant even boot..When people bought L series it was meant to be lifebook or rather don't call it lifebook then.

1st of all why people buy fujitsu is because of its reliability no matter low end or high end. Doesnt mean cannot afford must buy other brands. If your logic is buying lower end means expect lower expectation then i think no need to sell lower end models already.

Having said that of course i dont expect much for a lower end model like it to be powerful all we poor people are asking is just a stable notebook not something u just bought for a day and it crashes. Even high end models like the one made in Japan SH560 have worse problems.

haiz. dunno whats wrong with my s6420.

when i first bought it in june last year, sometimes when i double click to send my vid to full screen, the screen would freeze for a few seconds then go back to normal, with the message "display driver stopped responding and has successfully recoverd". Initially i thought it was a driver conflict problem with vista and didnt really bother about it.

indeed upon installation of win7, the problem disappeared for a while. but after a few months, the problem appeared again, and this time it was worse. I would just be surfing the web, not even watching videos when the same error would appear, with the same error message. sometimes the system would not even recover from the freeze, going into a bsod with the error "attempt to reset the display driver has failed".

i sent my notebook to the service center in mid feb. after a few days, they called and told me my hdd had bad sectors and they would be replacing it. that was fine with me even though i did not list that as my complaints. another day later, they informed me that the mainboard was faulty and they would be replacing it. and heres when the crap from them starts. since the mainboard would take around 2 weeks to arrive, they said they could loan me a unit. which would take a few days to come. i called them a few days later and they told me somehow the mainboard arrived and they would be fixing it. i was quite happy about this until they called again to tell me that the wrong mainboard came and i would have to wait another few days for the loan unit to arrive. in the end i waited a whole week for the loan unit. weeks later, they called to inform me that my unit was fixed and ready for collection. when i reached there, i was about to collect the unit when i enquired about the data in my old hdd. i brought a portable one along to transfer stuff. the techie offered to do it for me. to my horror, he came back a few minutes later and told me the new mainboard was also faulty. I had to wait another whole week just for another mainboard to come.

I finally collected back my notebook from the service center after FIVE weeks and 4 trips, 1 to send in 1 to collect the loan unit, 1 wasted trip thanks to them and 1 trip to collect.

up till now my notebook seems fine(5days since i collected it). however just now i left my notebook on and went to sleep. when i woke up what greeted me was this jumbled up bsod with "attempt to reset display driver failed". i shall monitor and decide whether i should send it in again.

thanks for reading this wot/rant... anyone has any idea what could be wrong? they have changed the hdd and the mainboard. when i asked the tech whether there was anything wrong with the gfx he said there was nothing wrong with it.

black horizontal line across monitor

Hi,

I own a Fujitsu T5010 (bought in Aug 2008). A few days ago, a black horizontal line started to appear across my monitor. It just appears whenever I on my PC and stays there. So I suspect it could be due to the LCD screen. I think my PC is still under warranty (3 year warranty) but does it cover damages of the LCD screen?

Hope somebody here can help me:s11:

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for your input, but the sound still exist after the service guy turn off the BIOS thing. The sound is still present regardless. I can surely say it is not because of the BIOS thingy. My brother and I could hear it distinctively and it doesn't stop.

Brought it back to the service center and up till now still no news. Until i threaten to go to small claims court then they say they "try" to work out something out. =.=

But, since such problems about the high pitch problem exist since 3 years ago, shouldn't lap tops stop manufacturing with this so call 'defect'? It is a nuisance to users and my old fujitsu lap top was perfectly find with NO such problems at all( old lappy is close to 5 years old).

Nonethelss thanks for the input. :)

Hi ,

I guess it is not about being defective but i guess its the newer processors have this power management thingy via the processor as i have pointed out previously as i have another Fujitsu Lifebook S7020 and it doesnt have this issue or probaly i did not hear it but about 2 - 3 years later i bought my S6311 when Duo Core/Core 2 was in place there was this issue thus i think it is the processor probaly with e new power manage feature which causes the little whine sound which many ppl around the world have experienced and the older notebooks like my S7020(Mobile Centrino era)do not have it probaly do not have that feature. Well for us lay man folks, we will not understand why the developers created a processor with that defect( which you mentioned) but to me i will not call it defect just that probaly the sound irritates a small handfull of ppl with sensitive ears(maybe) lucky im not haha. Anywaes if Fujitsu mention they will try to do something, probaly they are trying to see what can be done as ultimately they might not have the solution as the processor is from Intel aint i not right and not from Fujitsu. Well im sure your not the only chap having this issue as all notebooks i believe using this latest processor should have this issue i beleive as per the following URLs i post previously.

Well Bro Gtpt86, do not be too harsh to the Fujitsu chaps, these ppl are just doing their job and to be honest they are getting the blows from you when if im correct the issue doesnt lies with them as from the various search on the internet, is most likly the processors should be the culprit. I think even if you go to small claims court, i mite be wrong but i feel the approach to small claims is wrong and negative results as the notebook is not defective and neither the service chaps are not doing their job or rejecting to service your lappie. Cut them some slack and see what they can do, even if they cant solve it, what to do? all the processors are the same currently use for lappies like yours which are the i3 i5 and i7.

Hi Fornica,

It seems like your stand is biased towards the technical service people. Perhaps you're working in Fujitsu???

I'm sorry to say it's not that i don't want to "cut them some slack" but the problem has dragged on since a few weeks ago and this has really infuriated me and i can't use it. I barely touched it for 3 days!

The crux of the problem has not been solved and i don't see why they can't do anything about it.

Well, in the first place why have they not mention about this incessant irritating noise? Regardless, a computer should not produce sounds that will interfere with the person using it, am i not right?

Hi bros
I just got an S6421 and realised I have difficulty bumping up the resolution to my 21" monitor to 1600x900. The display driver on the notebook goes up only to 1440x900, which is hard on the eyes (I am already using ClearType Font). Anything I can do to bump it up? I can do it manually, but the refresh rate drops to 59Hz.

The graphics is run by the Intel Mobile R Express Chipset Family.

My monitor is Samsung Sync P2050.

Thanks all ;)
