Just got A7 2017. The black edition is nice. The battery is power pack. Lasted very very long. Good for those who want big screen, big battery, good camera and IP68

How is the ram management? Seeing that Samsung always has poor ram efficiency and A7 only has 3GB ram.

wah you bolded the water/dust resistant rating. trying to say you can use it in bathroom liao right? :D
Haha. For accidental water spills. Or Let's say I go eat, food spill on the phone, i just go and wash off using tap water. I tried it with S7 edge and Note7

errm i think as usual, now my A7, 1.9GB/3GB RAM. i think its mostly touchwiz and other features like AOD and SS pay that is running.

But not looking at the ram wise, the phone is really fast n smooth, can't differentiate the speed between S7 and A7

My A5 is not bad, after 11hr 33m on standby mode I still have 95% left. Battery life is good.

Well, my mum uses the older A3 and it always lag and she will complain about it.

When I took her phone over and examine, too much trash inside due to her habit of installing rogue apps and games.

If you periodically do maintenance by removing unwanted apps, files and those data files, you are indirectly reducing ram consumption and prolonging battery life..

A device fast in the first place will always be fast forever unless limited by users usage. :D

I hope it will still be that good after 3 months of use...

Agreed. Android does interesting things. Applications even though not launched can be cached in RAM as a service or even just a process. That what Samsung created the App power monitor for. To keep these process off unless launched, this is active in the new grace UI devices under device maintenance -> Battery

Just gotten the a7, seems like dual SIM 4g/3g ain't supported yet.

Camera under low lighting is absolutely rubbish.

Wait for firmware update before 1 April. This should fix it on the A5 / A7 2017.

It could be this camera is like this or Samsung purposely made it bad to differentiate it from the high end S and Note series. Who knows.

I think currently only Samsung A9 Pro and LG V20 has Dual Sim 4G+3G plus a dedicated microSD slot. I might be wrong. Not sure about other phones.

I think if we are not urgent, just wait for a few more months and we will see more phones with 3 dedicated slots with 4G+3G and microSD support. I can think of LG G6, Mi Max 2, Samsung A5/A7 and maybe even Sony. And there is also the Samsung C9 Pro but not sure if it supports all 3 slots and by the time it arrives, something better will be out.

The upcoming Nokia P1 interested me... with a whopping 128GB ROM... slot for MicroSD does not bother me anyone... and 6GB RAM.. I think it is a phone that can last a few good years... seems like the fallen giant has awoken again..
it will give Samsung a run for its money given its recent mishap with Note 7

Ya, Nokia. MicroSD slot bother some people. If it doesn't, then we have a lot more choices like Huawei Mate 9, OnePlus 3/3T, Samsung S8, LG G6, Sony XZ and in fact most flagships would support Dual SIM 4G+3G.

EAP-SIM login to wireless@sgx missing?

The other day while I was at NEX, I checked out the A5 in one of the shops. I was playing around with the Wifi (wireless@sgx) and discovered that the EAP-SIM option wasn't available on the A5. The A7 and J5 displayed at the shop both have the ability. I passed it off that the shop isn't using the latest firmware.

Can someone confirm if the latest A5 firmware is able login to wireless@sgx using EAP-SIM method?

Yes. I also have a5 2017, it is able to connect to wireless@sgx. The demo samsung phones in shops are demo sets, hence it is not the actual product.
