I came from phones which has notification led too. the Always On Display more than makes up for it. can see the icons on the screen when got notifications. now I wish phones would implement always on display. :D

Whatsapp doesn't display on the AOD right? Only the native Samsung apps... I don't get Whatsapp on my S7e... does the A series have it? My previous Note 7 could have all apps notification on the AOD...

icons from 3rd party apps can display on the AOD for the 2017 A series. I read s7/e after firmware update also can now.

As of the Nougat update for the S7 and S7 Edge, we can display and open 3rd party applications via AOD

just like the Note7, 3rd party apps can display on the AOD and Note7 is running on marshmallow. I think its a grace UX thingy.

If im not wrong the new A series uses the Note7 UX

Anyone have problem changing notification tone?
Changed the Settings> Sounds and vibration > Ringtone > Notifications to custom tones. However all other apps which uses default notification tone still uses Grace Note (hard coded default?)

any notifications led? for a5?

Really no LED indicator for A5? Can someone confirm this? In my Galaxy S5 Duos, it can be enable under settings->Display->LED indicator->Notifications

Thinking of buying this phone, but if no LED indicator then maybe I will hold back

Can support 4G+3G? or need to update software?

I think I will wait for the new software for 4G+3G or else it will be no difference from my Galaxy S5 Duos which has 4G+2G with dedicated slot for 2nd SIM also.

The Always on Display replaces the LED notification. I read about an article that Always On Display can consumes a fifth of the battery power in a whole day.

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-1315189/review/2

Might not be significant for new phone, but as the phone ages, battery life will be shorter. Should have kept the old LED notification and let consumer choose which one to use.

I don't know why Samsung follows IPhone to have non-removable battery nowadays. My S5 at least still can buy a new battery and replace.

Shouldn't all newer phones be better and "betterest", but instead, add better hardware but take out little features here and there

Their flagship S7 has no dedicated slot for the 2nd SIM instead share the slot with the MicroSD. Now they realize it and improve this in this new year's A series

It's not that they want to follow the iPhone, but it's that people always complain that Samsung flagships using plastic feels cheap and not premium that's why they switched to using glass-metal sandwich design, which is a premium design in any ways.

You can't expect removable battery on a phone with a glass body(or a metal body) right?? :o:o

FYI, the A5 (2016), A7 (2016) and A9 (2016) is the first few Samsung devices featuring the 2 SIM + 1 SD card slots design.
