hi everyone. i m new to the android scene n i just got myself a galaxy nexus. saw all the rooting things n also reading as i go along it. any tips to start on it? haha

Is that true that..Bootloader must be unlocked before can do Manual official signed rom update.

For Nexus S and Nexus One, can just do the manual upgrade with stock recovery without problem.

I am talking about Stock ROM to Official Stock ROM upgrade.

thanks bro, that's god send.

you might want to contribute it to xda? the tools that they have doesn't allow them to backup EFS without the use of ADB so easily yet. That could help a lot of people out.

I touched up a little, and it now datestamps your EFS backup (not sure how useful it is to keep more than one)

Hi Guys, can I know how are your GNex battery life? My on screen time can only last about 3 hrs as compare to 2 1/2 hrs on stock 4.0.2. Currently on AOKP B23, Franco Kernel 17.2, only have google contacts sync and whatsapp.

I touched up a little, and it now datestamps your EFS backup (not sure how useful it is to keep more than one)

bro sorry to bother you again, so just in a nutshell, I root it when I'm still on stock, I install that .apk to backup my EFS then I can proceed to flash other rom and kernel already?

Yes..I usually clear them off after flashing the rom/kernel/baseband/softkeys/mods

omgg i need some help. my android market icon is gone n then as i was using an iphone b4 i sync to my gmail my contacts, but now i can't even find the gmail on the nexus to sync? any help plsss.. thanks

Go to ur apps drawer, u will probably find the Market there..Click & Hold then drag the shortcut to ur homescreen

Same goes if u wan the gmail shortcut on ur homescreen..For setting up of the account, go to settings>accounts and sync..

thanks for the quick reply. but i dun see the market in the drawer n wanna set up the account go to accounts n sync no more gmail alr. seems like all stuff relating to google is gone?

I guess it was wipe off?? Just reenter ur account details and password ba

If you dont have market app on ur phone, try this..

Which is why the recommendation of rooting, flashing of roms before even setting up the phone..

Anyway, after u key in ur email account for contacts sync, it will probably be sync back to ur phone..

i just got it ytd so after fully charged i did the rooting alr. haha. i went to the contacts page but it calls me to set up an exchange server. zzz.

the imei sv number changed after I flash a new rom, is it normal? I think it used to be 01 but now it's 04.

imei on box doesn't have imei sv i recall.
i'm not talking about imei number, it's the field under imei,
which is called imei sv
