i always go telegram bto groups spy on those ppl. now those young ppl already kpkb they cannot afford bto or need extensive loans to afford one. now hit like 450k to 500k for ulu location 4 rm bto. 2012-13 time was 270- 340k only. and salaries do not increase so much.
Think local may be seeing signs of what happening to CN if things go too far.

Where housing become expensive beyond many young people reach. Decent paying job hard to find. Many rejecting work like slave to get pittance. They want more work life balance. And marriage partner hard to find cause many are too materialistic.

End up now there more young people are quitting to do lesser work, if not lie flat. Don't want to marry and buy house cause cannot afford either also. Stay single stay carefree still can expect a decent life.

Thus, with lesser people in the downstream willing to take up the slack of the high cost of living, especially housing, the housing market are crashing in many places.

SINGAPORE - Labour chief Ng Chee Meng was spotted at a family carnival at Fernvale on March 16, ahead of the upcoming general election.

Fernvale is part of the newly carved-out Jalan Kayu SMC.

When asked if he would run in Ang Mo Kio GRC or the new Jalan Kayu SMC, he told reporters: “You’ll find out, I’m sure, in good time. You’ll see what the Prime Minister decides.”

Mr Ng said he has attended constituency events in some parts of Bukit Batok, Ang Mo Kio and Sengkang once every quarter or so.

The new Jalan Kayu SMC takes in some areas from Ang Mo Kio GRC that are currently under Ms Ng Ling Ling, who oversees the Jalan Kayu ward, and some under Mr Gan Thiam Poh, who represents Fernvale.

The next general election must be held by November but is widely expected to take place by mid-2025.

Mr Ng, who is secretary-general of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), was with Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the anchor minister for Ang Mo Kio GRC, and Mr Gan at the Chill Lah Fernvale Family Carnival on March 16.

Mr Ng joined politics in 2015 and won as part of a five-member PAP team at Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

He was appointed Education Minister for Schools and Second Minister for Transport in 2016.

In 2018, he was elected NTUC chief, a position he held while also being Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.

In the 2020 General Election, he led the PAP’s team in the new Sengkang GRC and was voted out after the ruling party lost the constituency to the opposition Workers’ Party. He retained his role as labour chief.

actually they got say machiam like 2011 issues until now also never solve. 2011 never build bto then ppl need to buy resale and cost like 400+k for 4 rm. then ppl cannot afford.

then 2011 if bto is like 270k -300k for 4 rm.

now bto also 460k meaning 2011 issues still coming back. it doesn't matter got build more bto but ppl cannot afford 400k kind of prices for ulu bto.

Red Dot United confident of 'fighting chance' against PAP, has list of over 20 potential candidates

They plan to compete in at least six constituencies.

The Red Dot United (RDU) is confident of a fighting chance against the PAP, according to a Straits Times (ST) article.

The political party had earlier stated on Mar. 11 that it intends to compete in at least six constituencies.

However they also stated that the target of six constituencies was a preliminary announcement and they would share a more detailed response after their electoral committee met on Mar. 14.

According to Zaobao, the party has trained over 20 potential candidates since Feb. 2024. The training ranges from personal grooming to learning about the party's policies.

During a porridge distribution event at Bukit Batok East Point, which will fall under the new Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC, RDU secretary-general Ravi Philemon introduced reporters to tech start-up business director Pang Heng Chuan.

Pang is the director of a smart street lighting company in China.

According to ST, RDU will feature candidates that will consist of academics and professionals.

CNA also reported that RDU's porridge distribution was close to PAP MP Rahayu Mahzam's, who represents the Bukit Batok East ward, who was also distributing porridge with her team.

Citing RDU's secretary-general, CNA said RDU had planned the event before the EBRC report on Mar. 11, but had only found out "a day prior" that the PAP team had planned to hold their event there as well.

PAP might field Choo Pei Ling & Tin Pei Ling at Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC

2 Pei Ling.

image

Marine Parade GRC will see quite a few changes for this new election. They will see 15 polling districts moved to East Coast GRC, they will also take in MacPherson SMC, two polling districts from Potong Pasir, and parts of Mountbatten SMC.

All these changes will ultimately culminate in the new five-member Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

In GE 2020, the People's Action Party (PAP) team won 57.76 per cent of the votes in Marine Parade GRC, in what turned out to be a closer contest than expected.

Back then, the five-member PAP team consisted of Edwin Tong, Tan Chuan-Jin, Tan See Leng, Seah Kian Peng, and Fahmi Aliman.

With Tan Chuan-Jin resigning from the party, that only leaves four candidates.

Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat also recently said that the East Coast GRC team welcomes Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong to the team.

While Heng did not explicitly say that Tong — who is also Second Minister for Law — would be part of PAP's line-up for the General Election, he said that his team in East Coast would work together with Tong, and "welcome Edwin until the Prime Minister announces what exactly will be the detailed changes".

So a possible two-candidate space to fill this election?

Enter two Pei Lings

The first of the Pei Lings is quite intuitive. Tin Pei Ling secured over 70 per cent of the votes in the previous election, and with MacPherson (her SMC) being absorbed into Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC, having Tin in the mix for the upcoming elections seems to make sense.

The other Pei Ling, Choo Pei Ling, will be a newcomer if she does run for this election.

Her name has been bandied around in media reports since last year.

The Straits Times also reported Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, in early 2024, saying Choo Pei Ling represented the "present and future" of Marine Parade.

Choo is a neuroscientist and physiotherapist with experience in neurological rehabilitation, according to biodata by the Singapore Physiotherapy Association (SPA).

In 2014, she made headlines after being awarded a prize by the Glasgow Caledonian University to help set up a rural satellite neurorehabilitation clinic in Myanmar.

She received a Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical & Imaging Neuroscience) at the same university, according to her SIT profile.

She has been seen on the ground at Marine Parade since 2024.

The two Pei Lings shared the stage at a recent Ramadan event at MacPherson, along with Marine Parade GRC members, Tan See Leng, Seah Kian Peng, and Fahmi Aliman.

Punggol West SMC's Sun Xueling takes photo with 3 Pasir Ris-Punggol MPs in new 4-seat GRC

Hmmmm.

image

Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean took a trip down to the RoboSG event in Punggol over the weekend.

He was joined at the event by two fellow Pasir Ris-Punggol Group Representation Constituency Members of Parliament (GRC MPs), Janil Putucheary and Sharael Taha.

Another MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol, Yeo Wan Ling, was tagged but did not appear in the photo they took at the RoboSG event.

The other MP for the current Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC is Desmond Tan.

Someone who did appear in the picture was another Punggol MP, more specifically, Punggol West Single Member Constituency's (SMC's) Sun Xueling.

Image from Teo Chee Hean's Facebook

Four of them.

Coincidentally, the newly-created Punggol GRC, is a four-member GRC.

This is because the existing five-member Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC will be split into two four-member GRCs, following the release of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC) report and its adoption by the government.

The aforementioned Punggol GRC, and Pasir Ris-Changi GRC. Pasir Ris-Changi GRC will incorporate some Pasir Ris estates and some parts of the current East Coast GRC.

Punggol GRC will take up the Punggol estates from Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC and add in Punggol West SMC, which Sun is the current MP for.

The Straits Times speculatively identified Punggol GRC as a potential "fierce fight" between WP and PAP, this is mainly due to it being a new GRC, and the relatively young population there.

Chan Chun Sing would like West Coast GRC’s Rachel Ong to take care of new Tanjong Pagar GRC residents from Telok Blangah

Hmmmm.

image

The new electoral boundaries in the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC) report will see estates in the existing West Coast GRC — including some in Dover and Telok Blangah — absorbed into Tanjong Pagar GRC for the upcoming election.

Minister for Education and Tanjong Pagar GRC MP Chan Chun Sing visited one of the soon-to-be Tanjong Pagar GRC areas in Telok Blangah with West Coast GRC MP Rachel Ong on Mar. 15.

Ong is the current representative of the Telok Blangah ward.

He documented the visit on Facebook, noting that many residents had asked if Ong would "continue to take care of them".

In the same Facebook post, Chan said he would "also like it to be so".

Ong shared the post with a "grateful" caption.

Tanjong Pagar GRC and Queenstown SMC

According to the EBRC report, Tanjong Pagar will remain a 5-member GRC, however a new SMC, Queenstown SMC, will be carved out.

This means Tanjong Pagar GRC would need at least one more candidate for the upcoming elections.

The current MP overseeing the Queenstown ward at the moment is Eric Chua.

However, Chua said it would be "anyone's guess" who PAP would field in the new SMC.

Lim Tean's PAR has walkabout in Yio Chu Kang, says they received 'rapturous' reception from residents

Walkabouts.

image

The secretary-general of the People's Alliance for Reform (PAR), Lim Tean, announced on Mar. 11 which constituencies the alliance will contest.

1) Jalan Kayu SMC

2) Jalan Besar GRC

3) Tanjong Pagar GRC

4) Potong Pasir SMC

5) Mountbatten SMC

6) Radin Mas SMC

7) Queenstown SMC

8) Kebun Baru SMC

9) Marymount SMC

10) Yio Chu Kang SMC

On Mar. 17, Lim posted on Facebook detailing a walkabout in one of those areas on Mar. 16, Yio Chu Kang SMC.

In it, he said the party had a "rapturous" reception from residents there and that they had been working the area for two years.

Before they had the walkabout in Yio Chu Kang SMC, they also visited residents in Jalan Besar GRC to give out dates to those celebrating Ramadan.

Image from Lim Tean's Facebook

Lim Tean's Peoples Voice contested Jalan Besar GRC back in 2020, garnering around 35 per cent of the votes.

Yio Chu Kang SMC saw PAP MP Yip Hon Weng beat PSP's Kayla Wong with over 60 percent of the votes.

PAR was formed in 2023, an alliance comprising a number of smaller parties.

Lim Tean's People's Voice is one of those parties. The others are the Reform Party, the Democratic Progressive Party and the People's Power Party (PPP).

However the PPP, led by Goh Meng Seng, withdrew from the alliance in Feb. 2025.
