Senior public servants, Generals, and NMPs who have resigned ahead of GE2025 so far

Following the resignations of senior civil servants Foo Cexiang and Jasmin Lau after the EBRC’s report on 11 March, speculation grows over more departures. The PAP often recruits from the public service, requiring officials to resign before contesting elections. Other notable exits include former NMPs Raj Joshua Thomas and Syed Harun, as well as Chief of Army MG David Neo.

really don't understand why these Oppies cannot come into an agreement and not contest against each other

ego issues
Think even if they go one to one, most people are already conditioned by the system to choose, even among the opposition. So, doesn't mean give them any one they will take.

Its not like many are awakened to the idea need to put in more opposition just to get the veto number. Most have preference. As if they are choosing ruling when its just the opposition. They think they market buy vegetables ah, here pick there choose, Really no eye see. :s22:

Red Dot United this name sounds funny more like a football club but they actually doing quite ok. Talk sense and published some papers on their alternative views.
Think they got some candidates last time is from SDP and PSP one, but left due to different views and working style.

Out of PSP/SDP/WP, they are the most well-run one ba I guess. They got alot of highly-qualified academics in their ranks.

They seems to walk the ground every now and then in Jurong GRC also, think they can consider a coalition of some sorts with SDP in their originally-planned to contest areas which got affected due to gerrymandering.

A lot of small potatoes thought Ah Bock would be the opposition equivalent of a backdoor into Parliament. A lot of them thought that, because he was interested in what they had to say, perhaps he was more like them.

They were sadly mistaken.

When they realised that PSP was 1 old school PAP’s vision of what the PAP should be, and things are run the way PAP runs things … they realised they were at the wrong place.

One thing I like about the old school PAP is that the Old Guards were not as pro-immigrants as the current one.

And old school PAP won votes via winning people's trust for jobs well done, whereas current one still need to resort to GRC system, drawing redrawing electoral boundaries, giving out all kinds of handouts, to win votes. :s8:

Dr Tan is quite old school in how a party governing a country should run.

He always insists that PSP members should always do the right thing, legally and morally.

He also insisted that PSP conducts its business in an accountable manner to the public. If you fugged up big time, you are expected to step down.

As for Dr Tan listening to what the younger folks have to say, he does listen and give feedback as well....

Yep, he fought hard for Singaporeans back then. Alot of the things like using CPF for education/housing and free Sunday parking is he suggested one.

In fact, the main reason why he did not become a minister back then was because he did not agree alot with the PAP's way of doing things. He even clashed with LKY on some of his policies.

Think he looking at the current crop of leaders PAP has to offer, he also feel disappointed liao.

The GRC system was set up on The Old Man’s watch before he handed over to GCT, the 1st GE with GRCs happened when The Old Man was still PM.

They do their campaigning like PAP too. Apart from PAP, no other party places that much focus on photo-op.

Goh Meng Seng: PPP will withdraw from Nee Soon GRC if no LGBTQ+ candidate is fielded

During a Facebook livestream on 16 March, People’s Power Party chief Goh Meng Seng stated that his party would withdraw from contesting Nee Soon GRC in the upcoming General Election if PAP’s K Shanmugam announces no LGBTQ+ activist will be fielded. While acknowledging his team’s disappointment, he said he would step aside and allow Red Dot United (RDU) to contest if his demand is met.

Can ask him to get lost or go UFO spotting instead of standing for election?

You are not wrong! But behind the photo ops, there is a lot of house visits right after the GE that those in white may not do....so it is not totally wayang..
