Think sort of expected. Not like never been done before. Seems Macpherson all along has been used as a tool to strengthen Marine Parade. Now even more tok-kong. Not just absorbed Macpherson, but also makan part of Potong Pasir and Mountbatten. Can't help feel like really kia-su, given the happening in Marine Parade. :s22:

Looks like LWZ might be right, and PAP might want to conserve ET and send him to East Coast.

And this will free up a slot and possibly make TPL a satki 4-term backbencher wor.

No leh bro ST headline big big "Joo Chiat hived off".

You were right leh.

SINGAPORE – Voter numbers in East Coast group representation constituency received a 25 per cent bump in the latest boundary report after absorbing Joo Chiat ward, including the Telok Kurau and Opera Estate landed enclaves that used to be part of Marine Parade.

Joo Chiat, when it was part of Marine Parade GRC, was overseen by Culture, Community and Youth Minister Edwin Tong. It is home to the stretch of condominiums on the eastern tip of Marine Parade Road, where Mandarin Gardens and Laguna Park are located.

The upcoming election will also see an increase in the total number of MPs — from 93 in 2020 to 97. What is one MP pay?

Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Country is small, yet so many SMC and GRC.

Just look at Queenstown SMC and Pioneer, your telling me that the "population" is so significant u specifically need to carve it out for a SMC??

Like really really need to carve out purely because of MP to population ratio?
Quote for pofma. Pap is clean, can do no wrong.

Here's what I extracted from the images:

1. GE2020 Results:

People’s Action Party (PAP): 83 seats

Workers’ Party (WP): 10 seats

Total: 93 seats

WP won in Aljunied GRC, Hougang SMC, and Sengkang GRC.

2. GE2025 New Electoral Boundaries:

Changes:

New GRCs (5 added, total now 18):

Punggol GRC (from Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC and Punggol West SMC)

Pasir Ris-Changi GRC (from East Coast GRC and Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC)

West Coast-Jurong West GRC (from Jurong GRC and West Coast GRC)

Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC (from Jurong GRC, Bukit Batok, Hong Kah North, and Yuhua SMCs)

Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC (from Marine Parade GRC, MacPherson, Mountbatten, and Potong Pasir SMCs)

New SMCs (6 added, total now 15):

Sembawang West SMC (from Sembawang GRC)

Jalan Kayu SMC (from Ang Mo Kio GRC)

Jurong Central SMC (from Jurong GRC and Yuhua SMC)

Bukit Gombak SMC (from Chua Chu Kang GRC)

Tampines Changkat SMC (from Tampines and East Coast GRCs)

Queenstown SMC (from Tanjong Pagar GRC)

Projection Analysis:

Potential Impact on WP:

Sengkang GRC has been altered significantly, possibly reducing WP's hold.

Hougang SMC remains unchanged, which is traditionally WP's stronghold.

Aljunied GRC remains, but boundary changes could affect voter distribution.

Impact on PAP:

The creation of new SMCs from large GRCs could give PAP an advantage in localized campaigns.

Redistricting in areas like Marine Parade and Jurong might dilute opposition votes.

Would you like a more detailed statistical projection using past voting data?

The changes were driven by voter growth and future housing developments in areas such as Punggol, Tengah and Bukit Batok West, says the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee.

Good. No gerry mandering

lol future housing ... thats a goood one

are these projects all gonna due within 1,2 yrs ?

Based on the voting data you provided from previous elections, I can make some projections for GE2025 under the new electoral boundaries.

Key Observations:

1. West Coast GRC (Past: PAP 51.68% vs. PSP 48.32%)

Very close contest; PSP performed well.

With the new West Coast-Jurong West GRC, PSP might have a chance if voter distribution is favorable.

If PSP gains even a slight swing, they could win a newly drawn area.

2. Tanjong Pagar GRC (Past: PAP 63.10% vs. PSP 36.90%)

Queenstown SMC has been carved out.

If Queenstown SMC had more opposition support, it could be a battleground.

Remaining Tanjong Pagar areas still favor PAP.

3. Yio Chu Kang SMC (Past: PAP 60.82% vs. PSP 39.18%)

PSP under 40% here; unlikely to flip without a major swing.

PAP should hold this seat comfortably.

4. Yuhua SMC (Past: PAP 70.54% vs. SDP 29.46%)

Strong PAP seat; opposition (SDP) unlikely to make gains.

This constituency was partly merged into the new Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC.

The larger GRC structure may not change PAP’s dominance.

5. Tampines and East Coast GRC Changes

Tampines Changkat SMC created from Tampines and East Coast.

Could become a swing area if East Coast voters (historically slightly more opposition-leaning) affect the result.

Projected Battlegrounds:

West Coast-Jurong West GRC → Could be competitive (PSP strong last time).

Queenstown SMC → If opposition consolidates support, it could be a close race.

Sengkang GRC (if still contested by WP) → Boundaries changed, but WP might retain support.

Would you like a prob
ability-based seat prediction model using past vote swings?

Treasures at Tampines Condo. It is the largest condo in Singapore by number of units. It added a lot of voters into the area.

Marine Parade will still remain white after this GE, I think the vote share might even increase in favour of PAP. Proving that losing the popular Tan Chuan Jin is not a disadvantage.
