I remember (please correct me if I remember wrongly due to my old age) during the first few years of the implementation of Medishield Life, it was asked in Parliament, "in total how much premium was collect over the years and how much was claimed". The answer given was so far the total premium collected was $3 billion and the claim was $100 million. When asked why such a large disparity (instead of lowering the premium), they replied they need to set aside a higher amount of $ for future raise in medical cost. Isn't the government yearly expenditure include healthcare cost? Or all healthcare cost have to be covered by our premium?

Since Medishield Life is complusory for all Singaporean, it should be operated as a co-operative and not for profits. As it is automatically provide coverage from the moment of birth, there is no agent fee incur. The yearly total premium collected, the administative cost and the total claim should be published to let sinkies known. Suka suka increase the premium without providing the breakdown figure can only arise mistrust with both CPFB who administers the scheme and MOH.
More importantly, what happens to the excess money collected?

Is it invested in some buy-high-sell-low investment?

$3600 per capita household income is considered upper middle income ah?

Fresh grad couple making $4k starting pay is high income?

The question should be

"$2601 per capita household income is considered upper middle income ah?"

Most useless taskforce in the history of mankind

1st task : Monitor
2nd task : Appear Confident & say confident things
3rd task : Wait for Trump to remove Tariffs or Leave the whitehouse
4th task : Claim credit or Shift blame depending on the outcome
They wont be so stupid to follow the 4 tasks that you mentioned.
Pls add more smart options

Singapore has no import duties except for beer and (medicated) samsu. Import duty does not equate to import tax(es). Car imports into Singapore have no import duty but are subjected to excise duty and GST.

I did FTA negotiations, so I know what I'm talking about :s8:.

I was trying to read the below book but NLB only have e-book with queue of at least 6 months:

The US insurance industry is quite bad in terms of claim experiences. So far my experience with Spore insurance is still at 85/100 in terms of claims and I hope our regulatory authorities would not allow ours to follow US' footsteps. Claims, unless straight forward kind, would require the insured to know how to file and 'fight' for claims that fall in the grey areas - something that inexperienced claimants will be lacking (and give up the claims).

If keen, can listen to the summary of the book that sums up the general "insurance 吃人" belief.

If the NTUC-Allianz Income deal had gone through, not sure how the Insurance industry here will change liao...

becoming private insurance rates soon... then why cannot go private and claim medishield unlimited ?

medishield base pool is way more than private .. then how insurance works outside ? they take the money , they invest to fund the common pool .

should our medisave be the same ?
this kind of rates is almost like private insurance scheme but coverage so pathetic

this is a very sad episode for singapore to sell one of our core entities to foreigners, risking us being 'cannibalised' by them. So 不负责任的决定 that I was once fuming mad.

Its mandatory deduction from your medisave account whether you like it or not. So whatever interest you earn in that Medisave Account deducted for the Medishield Life Insurance Policy.

Lawren really everything hike one time gaolat
I hope Bukit Panjang and West Coast residents can vote Paul Tambyah and TCB respectively.

Not sure which constituencies Ong Lue Ping is contesting under WP, but I hope he can get inside too.

SG's health ministry needs people like them in charge of the policies-making aspects to address the true struggles ordinary Singaporeans are going through.

They evolve with time. Initially helping peasants through fighting for the unions. Then strike fear through operation coldstore. Then mischaracterisations / labelling / suing. Then GRC / gerrymandering. Then make redistribution through vouchers a norm. Then combine all of the above.
Tats y. Ppl gravitate towards voting for short term benefits instead of their individual achievements n for d long term future which their policies r taking sg to.

Prices kept rising but at who's expense? N how many ppl or who really benefits from tis?

Next time if hdb reaches 2 million dollars. Those who buy to stay no difference. Oni thing is they still needs to pay higher in property taxes.

I see kids now drink bubble tea $7 each. Ppl buy Rolex submariner cost 14k for private stocks which cost more than retail. They think their few hundred now can entranch ppl? 😂
Entrench d less well off esp d elderly grp. They form d majority.

If everyone really so well off then wat goodies they come out with will not hv much effects.

Depends on whether they hv critical thinking too.
