More importantly, what happens to the excess money collected?I remember (please correct me if I remember wrongly due to my old age) during the first few years of the implementation of Medishield Life, it was asked in Parliament, "in total how much premium was collect over the years and how much was claimed". The answer given was so far the total premium collected was $3 billion and the claim was $100 million. When asked why such a large disparity (instead of lowering the premium), they replied they need to set aside a higher amount of $ for future raise in medical cost. Isn't the government yearly expenditure include healthcare cost? Or all healthcare cost have to be covered by our premium?
Since Medishield Life is complusory for all Singaporean, it should be operated as a co-operative and not for profits. As it is automatically provide coverage from the moment of birth, there is no agent fee incur. The yearly total premium collected, the administative cost and the total claim should be published to let sinkies known. Suka suka increase the premium without providing the breakdown figure can only arise mistrust with both CPFB who administers the scheme and MOH.

Singapore has no import duties except for beer and (medicated) samsu. Import duty does not equate to import tax(es). Car imports into Singapore have no import duty but are subjected to excise duty and GST.Remove all import duty on all US made cars and exempt them from COE.. everyone in USA and Singapore will be very happy.
.I was trying to read the below book but NLB only have e-book with queue of at least 6 months:
The US insurance industry is quite bad in terms of claim experiences. So far my experience with Spore insurance is still at 85/100 in terms of claims and I hope our regulatory authorities would not allow ours to follow US' footsteps. Claims, unless straight forward kind, would require the insured to know how to file and 'fight' for claims that fall in the grey areas - something that inexperienced claimants will be lacking (and give up the claims).
If keen, can listen to the summary of the book that sums up the general "insurance 吃人" belief.
If the NTUC-Allianz Income deal had gone through, not sure how the Insurance industry here will change liao...
I hope Bukit Panjang and West Coast residents can vote Paul Tambyah and TCB respectively.Lawren really everything hike one time gaolat
