DPM Gan has been in talks with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of wide-ranging tariffs earlier in April.

“It’s a long road, and both men… agree that we should try and find a solution. If we can find a solution, it saves jobs, it saves businesses,” said Shanmugam at a rally for Nee Soon GRC, where he leads the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) team.


“If DPM Gan remains in government after May 3, he can play the role of saving jobs in Singapore,” he said, referring to the date of Polling Day.

Really feels like he won't contribute much anymore. Anyway, he and LW don't really have any star power other than the fact they are PM and DPM.

By deploying DPM Gan to Punggol, it actually feels like they are actually alright if he is sacrificed in the process. they are not prepared to deploy a younger minister to Punggol as they are not prepared to lose him / her. If they field OKY or CCS in Punggol, the chances of keeping Punggol won’t be lower than GKY. It’s funny that GYK wasn’t that favoured in the cabinet during LKY’s time but now they described him as indispensible

As for Marine Parade GRC, it's obviously a trap after gerrymandering for worker party to sink in 5 member into there with little chance of winning. That why PAP is so butthurt their trap didn't work since nomination day.
