I think his reputation would have been tarnished after the Telegram saga and the only reason he is getting as much vote is due to NCM being extremely unpopular. Knowing that Jalan Kaya would most likely be absorbed into a GRC next time or NCM being parachuted elsewhere, he is not the sweet thing as an anchor candidate. Someone like Micheal Thng or Eileen Chong would be more suitable for grooming.

Agree that Eileen Chong and Michael Thng should take up the NCMP seats as they are young and well qualified. Youth is an advantage because it can mean political longevity—they will be able to leverage on their NCMP experience as they contest more elections.

There may be a very very very small chance of a possibility of a by-election in Bukit Panjang, if Liang Eng Hwa takes time off from politics due to health reasons. If that happens, then Tambyah got some chance.

Faisal Manap thanks supporters amid drizzle

Amid a drizzle, WP’s Faisal Manap ran over to his supporters to greet and thank them before leaving Serangoon Stadium.

Mr Faisal, who contested Tampines GRC, lost to the PAP’s team in a four-way fight with 47.37 per cent of the votes. The PAP team led by Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli won 52.02 per cent of votes.

Mr Faisal, who said earlier that he intends to take a break to spend time with his family, was seen in high spirits as he ran to different sections of the stadium to thank the crowd and give them high-fives.

Hahahahaha, this NSP and PPP really make me LMAO, spoilt votes more than the votes for them, both can balik kampong and dissolve liao, and even the PPP team in AMK got more votes than UFO Goh

This useless UFO Goh couldn't even take enough votes away from the WP to get Chee Soon Juan in as a NCMP. Goh Meng Seng should return to Hong Kong and never contest in future elections here.

I think WP can consider PAP tactic, those potential candidates, they should be parachuted in to say aljunied. Then give opportunities to said candidate to get some recognition during parliament or something before setting them off to fight independently. This method could work well for Harpreet.

I find this result hard to believe. There's a PAP wave across the board and PAP wins so many constituencies in landslides but somehow the WP improves their vote share in all their constituencies and comes very close to winning Tampines GRC and Jalan Kayu SMC?!

Dr Chee getting his best result in all his years of contesting elections while every other SDP candidate and all PSP teams get crushed?

Somehow only the WP and Dr Chee were able to mount a real challenge against the PAP in a pro-PAP wave year...

Now it will be a PAP-WP parliament again with no other alternative voices.

This shows that Sinkies want a PAP-WP government. The other oppies can really go fly kite.
