65% IS a massive and overwhelming victory. Any parties in a parliamentary democracy that can win above 50% of the popular vote is considered a massive landslide win already.

Very good results for WP if you take into account all the Jerry marying & redrawing of boundaries which PAP did

Despite all that obstacles, they still managed 40% above for all the wards they contested... I think their results quite impressive

basically that 2% margin is after u factor in
1) unknown, ridiculed here as a job hopper by some folks
2) fkingham palace incident.

if all IBs can do is to barely scrape a win for ntuc, its obvious put sylvia or someone more known its going to be 60%....probably.....

That's why I hope WP sees this not as a loss but as a golden opportunity to move out into new zones. There are people outside Hougang, Aljunied and Sengkang waiting for credible opposition

This election was, at its core, a test of whether WP could hold onto its incumbent wards, especially Seng Kang and Aljunied despite blatant gerrymandering and they passed. Any gains beyond that would’ve been a bonus.

But seeing the Jalan Kayu results… really gek xim. Everyone can tell it was carved out as a special SMC for someone with a questionable track record. Yet, the close margin shows that many voters still chose to look past character and integrity. It makes you wonder where are the voters critical thinking and ethical standards?

Pritam Singh already said in his rally speech that it is incredibly difficult for an opposition to flip a SMC/GRC held by a PAP incumbent, so no surprises they didn't flip any seats, even though they gave a good fight in Tampines and Jalan Kayu, but still a poor 38% win rate for WP if you consider the number of seats they contested and how many of those seats they won.

Hard for WP to flip PAP GRC/SMC, and it's equally hard (if not, harder) for PAP to flip WP held GRC/SMC.

My view.
WP has many good candidates, he needs to field them rlsewhere n he needs to gamble n hope residents gv them good mandate.
But alias, it turn out unfavorable n many wp candidates were sacrifice..

If WP wants to make further in roads and secure more seats in 2030, Pritam really needs to a better job on his candidate line up. And no more self pwn scandals during these 5 yrs pls.
