Just happen to try the Gear S2 at Challenger Funan just now and notice that the watch has been put on the dock for charging and it is hot.

The touch screen is not responsive when the base of the watch is hot, never encounter such issue with other smartwatches though when they are put on charging for whole day for demo purpose.

You find Gear S2 hot and never faced heating issues with Xperia Z series !!!
Amazing :)

Gear S2 is amazing watch (Sony smartwatches are pathetic), with some innovation from Samsung, tizen doesnt have much apps thats the only problem.

Nope, there is no heating issues for my Z3 or Z5 Premium as it is only warm and does not affect the touch screen sensitivity unlike the Gear S2, you can feel the whole watch is very hot and not warm, the touch screen is not sensitive when you try to swipe through the screen.

Can the Classic work just like a watch? As in sync to phone once and it will work just like a watch?

Telling the time and date can already.

yeah. just need to pair to a watch the first time to activate the watch. afterwards can just use normally. but then again, if just to tell time and date, why not just get a normal watch? no need to charge once every couple of days. lol

Because the Classic like swee to me. Initially was eyeing the Urbane 2nd edition with 3G/4G. But the pricing very turn off.

Industry cannot bring phone into plant and I mai take the risk to smuggle phone in also lar.

I guess when you try the demo cos you will feel the heat when you try the demo set around 8pm onwards at the Funan Challenger especially when the Android corner is empty while the promoters or assistant are playing with their smartphone. =:p

Wow, that is pathetic of you to be living in the past and digging people's history. :s13:

You can go and try the set at Funan Challenger especially in the evening time when nobody try the watch while left it charging for a long time. Try and feel it and also the touch screen.

Change to Luminox strap. Lighter and cooler.

Sent from Samsung SM-N920I using GAGT

In office having TGIF now, have a good Friday all. Below is a "short" review of my S2. Cheers! :s12:

Samsung Gear S2 Classic

Pros
- No lag so far. Battery life lasted for 1.5 days of average usage. Surprisingly, replying via the inbuilt mini keyboard isn't that bad. Specifications wise, quite overkill for a smartwatch. Would be nice to have a lower spec and cheaper Gear S2 to cater to the lower spectrum.

- Pedometer is quite accurate, counter-reference to Samsung Fit and Mi Band. Sport features are quite useful although I rarely use it, can't bear the sweat hurting the leather strap.

- Inbuilt map in the smartwatch is accurate but abit slow in loading. Works well and has a nice UI. Navigation and routes planned are quite similar with Google map which is good.

- Interchangeable straps(for classic) for different activities. Would love to have a deployant strap, easier to wear and slightly nicer.

- Turning ceramic bezel! Smooth yet clicky bezel and satisfying to rotate it. It sure helps to form a physical connection with users too. Probably the best thing about the watch, very intuitive and to the extent I do not swipe across the screen anymore.

- Lots of customisations! Eg, watch faces, spent 1 hour playing and designing it. Would be nice to have an online website/app/platform for users to customise and design their own watch face even if they don't own a Gear S2. May help to gain new customers and also better watch designs.

Cons

- Metal finishing on the side is prone to scratches, would prefer a matt finishing, able to contrast with the ceramic glossy finishing.

- Is the watch 316L steel plated with something? DLC/PVD? I would prefer the normal stainless steel, gold and silver color will be nice instead of the original dark grey color.

- I would recommend the Standard version strap width to be at least 22mm so that it will be more comfortable during rigorous activities.

Conclusion

Will I buy it? Not if it is $550 for this, would buy it if it is around $450 for the classic version, nearer to what competitors are offering.

Is this better than the predecessor Gear S? Yes of course! Way better in terms of dimension and looks!

Did any of you buy a screen protector for your S2 / Classic? If so, where and how much did you pay for it?
