never bought any reits before. Looking at the two Reits ETF - CLR and CFA.

With current yields and the outlook on rate cuts eventually, both looks attractive at around 6.5% dividend yield. Any thoughts and which is preferred?

I owned both.

CLR more SG centric whereas CFA got HK Link reit

I have decided to stick to my core allocation and not buy anything just because it looks cheap. I burnt my hands with China funds and sold them at a loss. I have, since, vowed not to buy anything that I don't plan to hold forever.

Not a matter of cheap or not. Just a yield play after recent years of rate hikes.

I find that buying the underlying Reits more worth it than paying the additional fees for the etf.

"The Lion-Phillip S-REIT ETF (CLR) has a management fee of 0.50% per year and trustee fees of up to 0.04% per year of the fund's Net Asset Value, with a minimum of S$15,000 per year. The ETF also has an expense ratio of 0.6%"

CLR? Just look at the chart it's been trending down forever...
I'm sure many who invested have not been able to recoup their initial capital.
It's not just about yield here, the price just couldn't justify an entry point based on historical trends.

This is because reit etf debut during the peak before covid... After that , all reits have been going downhill

ETF was the rage not too long ago mah. It is like you pay $100 you get exposed to so many REIT it hold underlying.

Buying individual REIT would require forking out more capital. So if capital not an issue yes buy them individual instead. 100 units very affordable unlike last time 1000 units per trade.

The benefit of CFA ETF is that it can be bought with CPF OA. If buying with cash, buy REITs directly is better.

With the price being so low, tempted to sell all my STI ETF (used CPF OA) and then buy into this.

China ..stock ..is going to the moon ..

This is crazy.

I bought reits 2-3 years ago while many bought recently or last year. I am in red while many are in green.

Many bought China (or HK) stocks 2-3 years ago while i bought over last few months. I am in green while many in red.

I am not sure, I pulled this of the google search. But for me paying 0.50% is kinda high.

If I recall, the management fees is 0.50% but if you look at the Fund documents, there is a couple of other fees paid by the fund. So while the management fee is 0.50% the fund also pays other fees that I guess would have an impact on the overall return.

It might me that everything is covered under the 0.60% fee, but if I was investing I would double check that I am not paying for all these fees that would have an impact on the overall return. 🙏

Aiyah Solomon already said that the race isn't to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but time and chance happen to us all. So is just whether we will recognise and utilize that time & chance given to us nia loh...
