For a first timer, the first thing you really must do is to get the membership. You know where to get this.

Here's a tip I dun think has been mentioned yet. Bring your Spore NRIC to register your Genting card. Why? If you used your Passport to register, when you passport expires, so does your card. So you will need to get a new one every 5 years. If you use your NRIC, your card will not expire as long as you remain 'active'.

If you dun like to bring your NRIC overseas (like me) and dun mind changing your card every 5 yrs, then using the passport is OK too.

After you get your card, go to the kiosk and check for freebies. There would probably be a few for new signups. Just explore the kiosk for Rewards or Earn and Redeem.

Sometimes you can get NN credits and free meal vouchers. On your birthday month, you get a (slice) of cake too.

For the non-negotiable chips (that comes with the free meal voucher and GP) aka Golden Package, this is what you need to do.

#1 Go to the membership counter and tell them you want to buy the Golden Package.

#2 Be very clear whether it is for table game, Electronic game or Slots.

#3 Choose from $300, $500 or $1000 package. You can only buy one package a day. The daily cut-off is 0430 hrs

#4 You will get a few receipts including meal vouchers and other offers.

#5 Go to the cashier inside the casino (there's one on L2). Hand the receipts to the staff and pay them the amount. They will validate your meal vouchers (or it will be useless)

#6 If you are playing electronic game/slot, the credit will be credited into your card. If you are playing table game, you will be given another voucher.

#7 Take this voucher to any table game with a scanner (most located on L2). Hand over the voucher and your membership card to the dealer. They will validate and hand over the NN chips to you to play.

#8 Tip: Check to see the table has a scanner and the dealer has the required NN chips before requesting for change. And you do not need to change at the table you want to play.

#9 Note: NN chips can only be used at Sky Casino common area. It cannot be used at the old casinos or Silver room (presume Gold also cannot used)

I know the above sounds complicated and tedious but you will get the hang of it after a few times. ;)

Any other questions?

Just came back last Wednesday.
Celebrated my Xmas on top the hill, no "Xmas gift"from uncle Lim though, still it was the most pleasant Genting trip I ever had.
Firstly, the weather were really cooling, the first time I experienced 17 degree degrees Celsius in Genting. Secondly, the Xmas atmosphere were pretty strong, Xmas deco everywhere, Xmas songs everywhere, man-made snow, almost all staff put on their Santa hats, Xmas performances, Xmas meals, etc....
Had our Xmas eve dinner at The Olive, the food were average but love their services, we even received 6 complimentary Kenny Bee concern tickets after our meal.
I also tried the free lobster noodle at Sky Casino gold card area, taste not bad, pity I don't take pork, but even knowing it was pork broth prawn soup, still tried to feed myself a few spoons.
Lastly, the slot machines were as per usual, ie as "hungry" as 7th month ghosts, eat non-stop.

You will need to scan your card via the gate on 2nd level. I don't think they will downgrade you. You may want to find out from the membership counter.

To get into silver club will need to swipe the card, not show the card.

Pls do update here whether you manage to get in and retain your silver status despite not hitting 100 tier points in 2018. No one knows how strict they are as the tier system is fairly new.

The member would need to be present. You may not check in on behalf.

For Resort, Genting Grand and Maxim, the members who registered the room need to be there.

For FWH, it's possible to self-check in but you will need the member's passport during the check-in process.

What happens if the kiosk at First World and Resort is non operational at the time he wants to check in? There's no way he can check in at counter.

Yeah. That would be a risk he has to take I suppose.

It can happen of cos but so far this year, never see the check-in kiosks not working.

But then again, most of the time you stay GG/Maxim so you probably dun know that. :s13:

Resort got self check-in kiosks now? Can do early check-in like FWH?

Speaking of early check-in. Has anyone noticed that Genting stopped charging the $5 early check-in surcharge? My last 2 trips they never charge me a surcharge for early check-in.

I've stayed in all the hotels before. Resort already has the kiosk for sometimes already. They don't charge any surcharge if you are gold and above. Don't know about silver as it's quite sometimes since I check in under silver tier this year.

I took in Nov. Upper deck. Wifi terribly slow for just surfing without video unless bus is stationery. Gave up and turned on my data.

So does this mean wifi signal for lower deck better than upper deck ?

The bas usually use a mobile SIM plug into a wifi router place near the front of the bas/driver. Near the front, signal is strongest;2nd deck behind should have the weakest signal. Were you sitting upper deck, behind?
