There's a lot of reasons. Maybe his 50pts is clocked within a day.

Maybe he didn't utilised his comp benefits and the reward just kept manifesting.

When it comes to comp rooms Silver and Gold status doesn't really matter. It's the average TP (and maybe significant one day) earning rate that really counts.
