Government has been running surveys on the rally. The feedback i submitted is along related lines. On how I was disappointed not much focus on cost of living issues, especially for singles and elderlies - and in particular combinations of both in the same household. Medical costs (even for routine check ups) for elderlies are getting expensive especially if you are 80s / 90s. Medisave and flexi-medisave gets used up by middle of the year even just to cater for routine consultations, checks and medication from your Healthier SG GP. Some drugs are prescribed by the GPs as a matter of routine to better manage chronic diseases, but are NOT subsidised by the govt. These include some dementia related drugs. Depending on the prescription, these can cost a few dollars PER day.

Hopefully CDC vouchers can be made per citizen living in the same household (instead of a lump sum oer household regardless of the number of citizens), with additional amounts for those with elderlies and children (esp single children) staying in the same household.

Wats ur feedback on how to pay for ur suggestions?

SINGAPORE — Tackling cost of living concerns and taking better care of seniors are two key areas of focus for the Government, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Aug 23.

In a press conference five days after his maiden National Day Rally, PM Wong said he is looking into longer-term care for seniors and their housing needs. This is a big issue that will continue to grow as more people age, he noted.

Besides helping the older seniors who are in their 70s or 80s, there will also be support for their children - younger seniors who are entering or in their 50s and feel “sandwiched” with both ageing parents and children to look after, he said.

On cost of living, PM Wong said his Government is looking at doling out more help to specific segments of the population, including those with larger families and more young children, where “costs add up quite quickly”.

Such additional support will add to broad-based schemes such as the CDC vouchers, and cost of living payouts and U-Save rebates that target the lower- and middle-income groups.

During the press conference at the National Press Centre in Hill Street – PM Wong’s first since he took office as Singapore’s fourth prime minister on May 15 – he outlined his thinking for the Rally and what Singaporeans can expect in the months ahead.

Most elderly are jobless, and also suffered the most? Maybe need to vote them out perhaps?

Oh, one other thing, when PM says they are thinking about all these cost of living issues and how to help more, he asked people to wait for Budget 2025 This means that any additional help will be at least a year away. Good grief.

By being less wasteful elsewhere for example. The govt is smart enough to figure out where to get the money, as long as it has the political will and thinks it's worth supporting.

Your kind of argument is the reason why people like me are pissed. You just throw the qn back to the person seeking help. You are the govt. If you are not resourceful enough to think it through, dont be the govt.

So simple. The solution to any problem is money. Just need to increase another round of GST so as to roll out more CDC vouchers and u-save rebates. No need any rocket science to figure out.

CDC is very good measure to tackle cost of living, can continue or increase abit if cost of living keep increasing. Need to look at medical costs as it's still quite high even after subsidies.

Lawrence Wong was the one that increased GST TWICE! Making cost of living increased TWICE. Everyone including Opposition Parties said in Parliament that will increase the cost of living and make our lives harder. But Lawrence tiki and die die must increase...And now people all complaining and he lan lan said "studying how to tackle cost of living concerns"? So that mean before he increased GST, never study properly and ignore all our concerns? Please lar. :cautious::(

Most EDMWers' worst nitemare is coming true!

Looking forward to more band-aid solutions for a nation of vouchers! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
