What's some places that serves good steak?

I tried Bonta at Muhamad Sultan Rd, it's good, but 2 main course 2 drinks 1 dessert $150++ already, hopefully there's more affordable options..

But don't mind paying if the quality is there.

So, go! Recommend me places for steak!

Bedrock is not in the same league (quality or price) as the rest. I would say the price comparison for bedrock will probably be closer to Le Bouchon (which is a good place for an affordable, or cheap if compared to Morton's, slab of meat).

I won't bother with Gordon's grill either. Didn't think it was worth the money.

I haven't tried Wooloomooloo so can't comment on it.

Between Morton's, Ruth Chris and Cut, I prefer Cut. I like the sides more - their mac and cheese is good. I didn't really like the sides at Ruth Chris and in terms of the steaks, I enjoyed it the least amongst the three.

Anyways, they all average about S$100++ for just the steak without considering any starters, sides or drinks - so budget about S$200 per pax if you're not having that much alcohol.

Wooloomooloo is decent, but not as good as Ruth, Mortons or Cuts imho.

Just this friday I had the chance to visit Mortons. I like Lawry's compared to Morton's, but it's still not bad. Their Medium was closer to medium rare though.

Lawry's sells prime ribs, not steaks. There's a difference, although they are all technically still beef.

edit: difference

A question for all steak lovers.
When the steak is served do you
A) Start to eat straight away
B) Wait for the steak to "settle down" first and let the juices re-distribute
C) How to resist when it smells so heavenly

I saw a few clips on YouTube about cooking the perfect steak and also all will recommend to let the steak rest and let the juices re distribute to avoid. Having the whole plate swimming in the juices

I usually assume the steak got sit for a while while the plate is getting put together..

I will eat the other stuffs first normal (any veggies or starch and stuff) before getting down to the steak though, I guess. Never think so much :s13:

The alternative is to make your own. Invest in a cast-iron skillet (Ikea sells them quite cheaply) and get prime cuts from butchers.

You can buy pretty similar cuts from the ones in those 'high-class' restaurants for about $10/100g (which wld knock you back at least $70++ for 300g in restaurants).

If you are happy with steaks at Aston's quality, a 300g ribeye can be as cheap as $7 only.

Alternatively, get a whole block of ribeye (about $30 to the kilo), slow-roast it like Lawry's, 70 degree oven for 6 hours, crank up to 200 degree to finish in last 10 minutes; you can eat that for 2 days' dinner.

HIHI EMO,

I like Aston's Wagyu Beef Steak. It's like the best cut of steak I've ever had in my entire life.

Like headphones, when you buy high end, you no more taste for low end ones :s22::s22::s22:

Looks like cooking is a really handy skill to have.. I can make a decent bacon and omelette but that's it :(

CUT steak is really good .... very tender and juicy with a nice 'char' crust that gives is a flavorful texture.

the Porterhouse steak ( a huge 990g T-bone ) is quite worth it at $175 for sharing with 2 pax.
