Retarded siah, Jan going to over and still not released in Singapore. I know some of you here don't mind taking risks with export sets, but for the vast majority (like my friend) who is waiting for the local set, this is quite a disappointing wait.

I took the risk because I figured I'll eventually switch to the SGSIII. My 2 year recontract starts in june so agar-agar about that time SGSIII releases, using the Galaxy Note as reference, the SGSIII might cost around $480 + 2 yr contract.

Take the $830 Galaxy Nexus I have, trade it back in, using the current SGSII resale price as reference...hopefully at $500?

So I have $500, I buy the SGSIII, and then I trade in my super old SGS1 and maybe save another...$100?

I get a new phone and get back some cash at the end of the day. lol

Either that or something is wrong with my calculation somewhere down the line. =P

The problem with flashing the radio or a new ROM in G Nexus is that memory partitioning is crappy! The moment one does OEM unlock, it formats the entire 16GB of memory.. then set up everything again when you are done flashing.. why did they chose this MTP mode is beyond me! Could have kept the simple USB mass storage mode like the Nexus S!

Anyway, I will find time in the weekend to flash the XXKL1 baseband..with the current 4.0.2 stock and XXKK6 baseband, the battery drains like anything...Overnight it drains from 100% to 55% just sitting there! That is bad!

Well that's why most people just unlock and root their phones straight away. Anyway this is just for the first time, you don't need to worry about subsequent flashing of roms. CWM does not wipe the media partition so your files in /sdcard will stay intact in the future.

The normal flashing process does not wipe sdcard, but there is an option to format sdcard.

Assuming ARHD is a rom, usually it wont, unless you're flashing a different rom or if next version of the same rom has a major changes, it might boot up with errors. The developer will usually precaution on the thread with a recommendation of full wipe if that is the case.

Yes it is still there, just tick the Android Debugging and the old usual USB connect Green Android Robot will appear with a tab below "Turn on USB storage" for you to tab on.

This depends on the rom developer. Usually for a minor jump in version like this, you just flash the new rom over the old one. All your settings will stay intact. No need to flash super wipe or factory wipe or whatever.

Some roms have major revisions and the rom developer will encourage people to full wipe their devices before flashing the new version. In this case, you go to recovery and choose full wipe and then flash your rom and reboot. You have to do all customizations all over again.

Err, this is no longer true for Android 3.0 and above. Google has done away with USB storage for honeycomb and ICS. Now the device will be connected as a MTP media device, not a USB storage device.

I'm afraid you guys are right. It worked on the Samsung Note but not on the Galaxy Nexus. MTP was also integrated in Note, Note was able to switch to the green android robot after ticking Android debugging option, but Note is not ICS.

MTP can't be that bad can it? I was concern at first because I use both a Macbook Pro and a Windows Desktop. Then I found out about Android File Transfer for Mac, and use MTP on my Windows when transferring stuff. Ok mah.

When ur Note moves to ICS, u might find it in the same quandary as well. At least for the internal memory.

Let's just say MTP has some limitations that make it quite a bit restrictive compared to mass storage mode.....
