There is currently no way to use the Nexus 7 LTE as a phone (*).

Hackers have tried to enable the phone functions on the previous Nexus 7 3G 2012, but to date they have not been able to. I'm sure there are (very talented) people trying to do it for this tablet too, but who knows when (or if) they will be successful.

(*) You can do it with Google Voice, or with a SIP voip service like pfingo. Am referring to regular GSM phone service here.

Well that's a pity. Asus fonepad can be used as phone, but the design is not as stunning as nexus 7.. I like the full black look when the screen is off.. Cannot see the bezel...

Technically 4.4 is alr out for Nexus 7, just that we have not received the OTA rollout yet haha.

Who knows, maybe the same will happen for the HTC One GE...

You do know you will look very silly holding a 7" on your ear and talking to it.

Usually I wil use bluetooth earpiece.. Much clearer n oso won't dirty my phone with my sweaty face.. Haha..

The only challenge is carrying a 7inch around, as I dun carry a bag.

I decided to give up waiting and manually flash kitkat. (the roms are all over the place btw..) and it's already the updated build. :p

In any case, for those running kitkat... is there any way to get the fullscreen wallpaper on your nexus 7? or to activate immersive mode any other place aside from their own google play book reader.?

I'd have flashed kitkat but it's a shared tablet so that makes backing up and restoring a bit more troublesome haha. Not to mention exam period sucks.

As I understand it, I think the app has to enable the feature as well (by the developer) so I guess you'd have to wait a few weeks until app developers start incorporating kitkat features and support

Dear all

Usually my nexus 7 could last 2 days of light usage with a full charge.
Today i realise the battery drain off pretty quick and i saw this Google Services eating away majority of the juice.
Is the google services google now or other app?

beside n7 do you own other android which have syncing on regular basis
maybe contact or email??

and is your n7 sync function disabled??
