Doesn't even have a proper camera, photosphere on the front facing camera won't make sense since your face will always be in every picture. Or if you move out of the way, you can't see the screen to align the dots.

You've chosen to buy a tablet that lacks a back camera, live with it. I'm completely unsurprised it crashes the tablet since it never was meant to be that way.

Rooting could be very simple. But ask yourself whether do you really need to root.

Do you have any rooted aps that you wanna use?
Do you wanna have full customizations? If so then install custom roms instead.
Do you really need root?
What are the things in rooting do you really need?

There are people whom root till the extent that they might not be able to use their devices again.

If you still insist on rooting then by all means go ahead. A simple google search on xda forums you could find nexus 7 developments.

Roy frosty, u hv brought up v gd points. Do I need to do it? At times only after one do it then I will knw whther worth it or not, can only knw wat can do after it. But for nw, I can't change the bloody lock screen wallpaper, and I dun wan to spend money to buy the apps, hence there's one small reason why I wan to do it. N Pai seh, I tot root first than can install rom? I been to xda, but the forum v big, too many threads, I read til blur hehe

Is it? I Google, the recommendation is always to get the widget locker screen apps, which need to pay for it

Well. I would say it will take you quite a while to understand android OS. And how it works.

Custom OS don't really need to root then can install. Cause you have to unlock the bootloader of the device. Once unlock and install the Custom Recovery aka, CWM or TWRP you can install the Custom ROM using that Recovery.

By installing the custom rom, usually it has already preloaded with root.

Do take note that when unlocking the bootloader, all data on the device will be wipe.

Warranty will be void indefinately.

If you recall doing Windows Custom Rom on windows devices. This should not differ really that much. Just change of names that might not seems firmiliar with you.

Royfrosty, CWM is needed as part of rooting n not custom rom right? Will be reading up a lot these few days, although the rooting process only takes a few minutes.

Ipad n nexus. Of cos ipad screen better, but ipad mini equivalent same spec costs an additional 200. Some pple dun mind, some pple do. :)

We can only be hopeful that nexus will think of improving their hardware specs in terms of display as well

u can use the nexus root toolkit to root and unroot the device in a few clicks. don't worry too much about it.

The toolkits were previously installing nexus 7 Wifi custom recoveries onto nexus 7 3G thus causing a lot of problems. Not sure if that's been fixed by the toolkit developers though.

Anyone have thin cases to recommend for the NEXUS 7? Currently using the book-like one from gmarket and find it kinda thick. Would prefer something with smart function :D

I used it with my 3g set without any issues
