Most Google apps are tablet optimized. Only a few 3rd party apps are tablet optimized. But since nexus 7 isn't really a huge tablet, there isn't really much of a difference. But what do you intend to use your tablet for?

Hmm, then its odd that HWM made that remark about Nexus 7 being let down by shortage of tablet apps on Google Play. Doesn't say much about the knowledge of HWM reviewers!

Well basically I foresee myself using my tablet mostly for browsing the net. Of course I will probably play the occasional game and watch the occasional video. Even check the occasional email but probably browsing the net most of the time. Depending on the availability of e-magazines, if Google Play has as many e-mags as iTunes then I will probably be reading e-mags too.

To be honest I can probably do all that on my iPhone 5 except the screen is a little small. If the iPhone 6 really comes with a 5" screen that would be perfect. Or I could get the Galaxy 4. LOL!

A friend suggested the Note II or waiting for Note III but I find it a little too big.

Since you're doing internet browsing mostly, a nexus 7 will certainly serve you well. As for e-magazines, don't think its available in SG. I use Flipboard and Google Current mainly.

Lots of magazines on the Zinio app for Android. Not free of course. The Google Play magazines cost quite a bit more even if you have access. If u can get those pdf versions of magazines, then any decent pdf reader will do fine as well.

But the screen is just too small to read efficiently, lots of pinch zooming will be needed.

I have a note 2. N7 3g. And just 3 days ago an iphone 5.

Basically. Ok this may sounds contradicting. What you can do is you can go for note 2. It solves most of your needs. But to tell you the truth. N7 screen size is way much better than the note 2 in terms of reading, surf net, video streaming, games (i would go for n7 if you install custom roms) due to some performance issue.

I dont see why you can say note 2 size is too big for you if you wanna consider n7. Note 2 imo. Is not big as what you think. Is perfect for a tablet cum phone.

Iphone 5 hahahaha. Dont bother. Screen is too small. The only thing about iphone 5 that i like is just the more polished os. Other than that is just another work phone for me. Can call. Can sms. Can whatsapp can liao. Using iphone 5 to surf net is a no go for me. Have to scroll and zoom just to see what is it. Terrible strain on the eyes. Battery lifespan is terrible also.

So it boils down on users. If you prefer bigger screen you can try n7. It will suites most of your daily needs.

But if you wanna be slightly more portable, better screen quality and love writing notes then get the note 2.

If you are a apple fanboy. Stay on iphone. Cause no matter what people say you still choose the retarded iphone 5. Lol

I already have the Nexus 7 3G / 32GB actually, but I'm very much looking forward to the higher PPI screen and faster processor... both pet peeves for me in the existing Nexus 7. LTE will be a big bonus as well, if available.

That is if you are using a smartphone plan on tablet. Unless you are using a pure tablet plan it shouldnt be an issue with 10gb.

You can type single handedly on a Note 2 using Samsung keyboard. The screen size and the high battery capacity of the Note 2 is perfect for browsing especially on the go. I know because I own both a note 2 and a nexus 7. Even at home, sometimes I'll go for my Note 2 for browsing needs.. Like someone pointed out, even though Google itself does not offer magazines in the local market, there are 3rd party apps that provide magazines too.
