You have to use GPay if you want to scan QR code to pay, pay to phone number etc.
You have to use Google Wallet if you plan to pay using your cards stored in your Goggle Wallet via NFC.

I don't use Wallet for anything, SimplyGo or other wireless payment can just tap phone and it'll deduct from card.

Where did you store your contactless bank card if you just tap your phone to pay?

Yup... Gpay seems more refined than wallet at the moment
