Going to stick with my 6P after seeing these prices. Nothing compelling to warrant such premium prices.

The only thing going for the new Pixel phones seems to be the Google Assistant..but even that....seems to be revolving around speech commands......... And we all know how bad speech recognition is for Singaporeans... And that's assuming you enjoy talking to a phone (which just looks dumb to me in my personal opinion).

i'm not really proficient with the network bands etc, i guess RoW would work best for Singapore?

i'm quite indifferent to the Daydream VR set, so just want to see which phone would be "best" for singapore usage

Yeap, 4G+ and LTE-A are the same thing.. Basically LTE which supports CA. New Google Pixel supports up to 3CA. Their RoW model supports, 3-7 for 2CA LTE-A, and 3-7-7, 3-3-7 for 3CA.. The thing with Singapore is, whether our telcos have the infrastructure for 3CA.. Need to run few more Google check to find out..

Ok.. Found that Singtel is working on 3CA (and even 4CA).. Seems like Singtel 3CA will be 3+7+8.. And Pixel is supporting this for RoW model..

I will wait for price drop, so just need to get hold of the correct model no to ensure I am getting the right one.

Erm.. correct me if i am wrong, 4g+ or LTE-A are the same thing. In SG it is called 4g+ and it work by carrier aggregation, meaning using 2 bands at the same time like I mentioned earlier for RoW model 3-7, 3-8, 7-8.

As above and I may be wrong, my understanding for 4G+ to work, carrier aggregation must be supported. So the NA model can only use either 3 or 7 or 8 and does not support the carrier aggregation of 3-7, 3-8, 7-8.

I don't think Google is trying to compete with Apple.. Only media hype and press tried to put in Pixel vs iPhone, Pixel is killing iPhone remarks.

That aside, I think Google is on the right path. To bring the best out of Android, Google has to build her own phone. The last two years experiments with N6, then 5X and 6P showed Google's commitment. Furthermore, Android has matured a lot, up to the point that, at times, we found little incentives to root the vanilla phone anymore.

Having said those, I agree with 90% of fellows here.. This phone is expensive. I found that Apple's iPhones have been massively overpriced, and the value delivered do not justify the price. I will think the same with Google Pixel. Too expensive just for a phone..

But I disagree with those who commented that, "so expensive, might as well buy iPhone".. Well, I don't think iPhone is better than Pixel. Not with its in-flexibility, and no-fast charging, too much restriction with its iTunes, cannot do this and that thingy.. No..
Those who think that iPhone worth $1500, then you should get Pixel.. Too bad, I am one who will never use iPhone, simply because it does not worth that amount of money..

I wonder which idiot at marketing department go and decide the price to be like that. If google plans to compete with Apple for that price, definitely they wont succeed one.

no physical button , they could have stretch it full screen at the bottom ?

Just like what have been mentioned by others, it's more on symmetrical purpose, hence top and bottom bezels are of the same height and width. However, I agree the top and bottom bezels are big. Having said that, Google does not favour capacitive/physical front buttons.

Like some who have pointed out, the design is very much like an iPhone. I would have thought Google could have been more creative.. That big bezel underneath the screen is a question mark, wonder why its there - they could have put in another stereo speaker there. And secondly the price - huge disappointment.

Sticking to my N6P for now.

all you mentioned is spot one. there is only one reason y it makes more sense to buy IP7 then pixel. Resale value is there for IP7 but not for pixel
IP7 you can buy, try, flip and still recover most of the value for your next hoot but pixel ...... :s22:

Well, seeing how Google is charging a very high premium price for this phone, I would say they might be competing with Apple.

There are other phones s7 edge, oneplus 3 and they are cheaper and offers pretty much the same specs as the Pixel phone. I can arguably say s7 edge or note 7 has better specs and design than Pixel.

If one has the money, then i wont stop them from purchasing one but poor peasants like me would expect the price to be cheaper seeing how nexus lineup over the past years has been like that. And to add on, i dont think the design of the phone justifies the price. Huge front bezel, no front speakers, copy iPhone design, no waterproof
