Wow using an Aeropress really brings out the flavours of coffee. When I asked a cafe make an espresso from the coffee beans I bought from Italy, couldn't really taste much. The one made from the Aeropress tastes so chocolaty and sweet. :s13::s13::s13::s13: Btw, if you are a Nespresso member, it's even more cheaper.

Pergtamp

received this about a week ago. really well made, nice looking and expensive tamper.
at 58.5mm diameter, the manual states it'll only fit VST baskets but I've found it fits my generic triple basket well too. it also has a thicker stainless steel base than my generic 58mm tamper and weighs about 50gm heavier. it feels really good in the hand. the edge of the tamping base isn't as sharp as i've expect it to be thankfully.
I was really hesitant to make this purchase as i've expected the new innovation(tapered base and bigger tamping surface area) to be gimmicky but recently i've found my shots to have lesser channellings than b4. VSTs are known to be finicky.

One thing very good about Nespresso is the different varities at different intensity.

You can learn how a coffee should taste like at light, medium and dark roast. Different profiles, etc.

Bad thing is it's really costly and the extraction is really really bad.

Yeah and also get my wife to get interest in coffee.

She still ask me to froth milk on my silvia haha

Has anybody bought a lido2 hand grinder before?
How much is the shipping and how long did it take?
Right now they are out of stock.

Does it rust? Because their website says that it does not have any anti rust coating or anything.
Is it easy to use?
How is cleaning it like? Have to clean after every use?

Overall would you recommend it?
Or are there any better alternatives for this price?

I own a Lido2 for about 6 months now.
the shipping is about 57usd and it takes about 1week +/- to get here.
I don't see any signs of rusting and I don't think I ever will.
I don't need clean it coz it has zero grind retention but if you're anal about it, you can just use the brush that comes with it to clean the burrs.

for brew methods like French Press or filtered, I'll definitely recommend it, highly.
for espresso, you're better off with the pharos.

Thanks for the reply :)
You mean you don't wash it at all after every use like rinsing it?

hahahaha just got a weird idea

maybe go JB get some cheap nespresso capsules to put inside aeropress and wack see how it tastes :s13:

those with both the machine and aeropress should try and taste the difference

Anybody can comment on the ROK manual espresso maker?
Is it any good?
Does it really make espressos or is it more like an aeropress?
Comparable to espresso machines?
Thinking of using this and the lido 2 as my set up

No one can comment on that as they have not shipped any to the hands of those who ordered. 1st shipments is May 2015 the earliest iirc

According to advertised it's suitable for espresso machine. At least it's suitable for their own machine

Saw Geil from what coffeegeek playing with it. Think some learning curve there. Looks fun though.

I think without knowing what's the pressure/temperature, or anything ensuring the pressure and temperature are at optimal temperature, it is hard to make a good espresso consistently.

Not worth the price if you ask me.
