Ethiopian not my least favourite, my least favourite is Kenyan. :o
For Ethiopian blend, the ones I had always taste too acidic and overwhelming, some are very odd.
This one is at acceptable level and the notes are well brought out.

Ya it's one of the better ones I tried for this flowery profile of coffee. I will go try their other blends.

Kenyan has very sharp acidity thus they are mainly filtered. Ethiopian blend not many people can get the right mix and ratio.

It's not the acidity, the notes are simply weird.
Hate it.

Heard Dutch colony is not bad, but looks like they don't sell online

I got mine from orphan espresso. Quite cheap and it fits perfectly.

Never had any need to descale since I use filtered water. But from what I read need to follow instructions strictly to prevent damage to machine.

Actually it's the dissolved minerals that solidify in the heating element. Like the dark layer that forms inside kettles. Only descaler or vinegar can remove it.

U are right but usually of concern is calcium deposits. Iron or copper may be an issue with some places. Good filter should be able to reduce this. Singapore water is quite soft so less a concern.

I have heard is some cafes in old shop houses require frequent maintenance for the filters and machines as the piping is very old.

Hard to predict when a machine needs descaling until it breaks or thru parts inspection.

I was not too impressed the last time I tried it too.

If u guys want a good bench mark for medium roast try squaremile red brick. Their quality is high and consistent.

For dark roast st Ali orthodox or CAP al Banco is very good. Al Banco is very dark but the beans they use are high quality and roasted fresh. It's also roasted in Naples. Very fragrant and complex for a dark roast.

Joe curious brings in very good quality beans from different roasteries around the world but cost more than your local beans. A convenient way to try and know what are the standards out there.

i can't recall but usually i will buy 2 bags for $50. each bag is about 350g. quite reasonable for good coffee.

Their coffee sourcer Anette moldvaer is pretty well renowned and was a world cup tasting champion. James hoffman was also placed quite well for the same competition in another year. I think he was a WBC champion for another year.

Anyway seems sunray cafe and dutch colony coffee has won some awards too. Silver award for an australian coffee blend competition.

I'll try some sun ray beans next time....

can try cafebond too if you want to try overseas roasters. they don't charge for delivery....

Drinking this interesting indonesian coffee from dockyardcoffee.
xuhgjwa.jpg

Really well roasted I feel. Smells exactly like what the description states, jackfruit and mango.
Very fruity in the cup with smooth acidity. I only tried the espresso roast but I think this is better for brews.
Highly recommended.
