What are your water filtration systems at home? I'm looking out for a new one for the new house.

Current house using Panasonic counter-top alkaline water filtration. Saw many people in SG uses 3M hot/cold water machine with the filter.. but pretty expensive..

If u can measure your TDS level it will be a good start.
If reading under 100 can invest something cheap, over 100 spend little more

PUB says we can just use tap water. Does filtered water in SG really make a difference to the taste of the espresso too?

Sure PUB state so, too hard you get mineral built up. Not PUB problem.
My maker recommended me to use water that is TDS under 50ppm.

TDS not that expensive but it’s use once put away for years if not decades lol

The Gaggia classic 2019 is very interesting. I would say it’s the good buy of the decade. A lot of upgrades but price also went up.

Modify Delonghi Dedic EC685 with Rancilio Wand

Hi there, am new to the thread. I would like to upgrade my EC685 to a regular steam wand rather than the standard panerello wand. I’ve seen YouTube videos of people doing that but am not confident I can pull it off. Wondering if there are any shops out there that provides such services. Many thanks.

Shower screen not too hard to remove to clean but putting it back sure not easy. I wonder if lubricant helps.

Hi, I saw this video but am not confident of doing it myself. Hence wondering if there are people out there who provides such modification services.

based on video its quite easy to do with some trial and error, patience and correct tools. You may have a problem with putting back the circlip in if you don't use proper circlip pliers.

you can ask a handyman to try to fix it but unlikely they will agree because this is a modification on an electronic product and they won't want to be liable.

I can only spare $1000 for a grinder and a machine and that's already pushing it. Any recommendations?

I'm currently using a Dedica 680 and a modded Delonghi KG79.

Someone is selling a Rancilio Silvia on Carousell and it's the cheapest I can find but it's an import. Anything I need to look out for?

Or, Myer in Australia has a Breville Infuser and a Smart Grinder Pro for $600. I think I can have my brother ship it here for $200.

This coffee addiction is too much! :)

If I was you, I'd keep the Dedica and spend all my budget on a grinder. It'll be the biggest upgrade in terms of the quality of espresso you'll be making for your money's worth.

A good grinder not only makes good coffee, but also reduces the frustrations of dialing in making the coffee making session more enjoyable.

I guess the Smart Grinder Pro doesn't make the cut. Does it need to be stepless? Is the Lelit PL53 better?
