I finally bite the bullet and got the Acaia Lunar.
I found this Malaysian website Acaia Lunar that sells it for 899rm. Plus shipping totals up to 941rm.

Or u could just grind finer and drink a 2nd shot.. Hehe

I think this bean benefits more from longer extraction. The hazelnut and citrusy flavor comes through from longer extraction. More full bodied. It’s good for milk Base drink.

Do y’all think Gaggia Classic Pro is good as an entry level for espresso? Or any other prosumer models which you can suggest? Appreciate your advices & suggestions. Cheers mates.

Drink milk base try to get heat exchanger if budget allow.

If drink black, or no budget then get single boiler.

Any recommendation for HX machines? Budget about $1K-$2K

Bezzera got a few models meet your budget. See you want their E61 or their BZ series.

Else buy profitec or rocket from overseas online shop.

Curious if anyone has tried one of those manual lever machines that can be DIYed if you have access to lathe and milling machine.

I was considering an Elektra S1 micro casa. However, considering the amount of time or lack of rather, I can't justify the purchase. Only gonna make 2 or 3 espressos a week. Gotta rotate through my aeropress, v60 and cold brew.

I love the Niche Zero so much, I bought 2, haha. One for espresso and the other for pour over.

To me, it's simply perfect for single-dose home use. Doesn't look stupidly imposing. Zero retention most times. At most 0.1g some times.

No more whacking grinders to get the retained grounds out.

Where did you buy your Niche Zero? I'm looking at the IndieGoGo page and it only costs S$871 but they don’t ship to SG. On carousel its going for $1,100. That's a significant increase in price :(

Also, why did u buy 2 of them, one for espresso and one for pour-over? Isn't it supposed to be the case that since its "zero retention" that you can easily swap from espresso grind settings to pour over and vice versa? Was it not the case from your experience that's why u got another one?

One reason I'm looking to get one is so that I can easily swap between the 2 brew styles :)

I bought one from a HK seller, then I liked it so much I wanted to buy another one, but he said he sold his last piece to me.

So I searched and came across a china seller who sold it, and bought one off him.

Both pieces came up to around slightly less than $1k landed.

However, earlier in this thread, someone told me you can email the indiegogo people and they can arrange shipping for you.

I bought 2 not because I needed to, but because I wanted to.

1) my espresso machine and pour over stations are not at the same place, and I don’t want to be grinding my beans at one spot and bringing it to another spot

2) my espresso settings are so far away from my pour over settings that they require more than 1 full turn (almost 2) which makes it a hassle to keep switching

3) I say this not for “hao lian”, but I could afford it, and hence it made sense for me to get 2 for the convenience I was getting in return

Anyone seen this video and tried it?

I just tried this on my HG1, not the double grinding part but rather the feeding-in-slowly part. I usually dump the whole 17gm of beans in and grind it all out. And I got 35gm of coffee out in about 25secs. This time I fed it 5-6 beans at a time. And I immediately noticed a difference while preparing my puck. My grounds were fuller in the puck than usual. And my tamper didn't go in as deep as usual. And finally, my shot ran about 10 secs faster. It was almost a gusher. Very interesting. Does this means less fines are generated when slow feeding is used?

I have one. Stock standard. No mods. What does the mod do?

K4t0XUD.jpg

It gives slower water distribution, to match it back to its bigger brothers (GS3, commercial linea e.t.c) which uses 0.6mm instead. Supposingly gives different taste...

I'm using the pesado shower screen, the water doesnt flow nicely (little individual droplets flying out) and seems to be moving water much faster than intended to (it could all be just aesthetic though.. i dont know)
