Hi all. Any recommendation on espresso machine that are below $700 and with PID if possible. I will be making milk based drink most of the time. 1 or 2 per day.

I will be using sette 270 for grinding.

Saw Lelit PL41TEM Anna with PID for $999 but a bit over my budget.

I'm also open to buying used machine. If anyone of you are thinking of selling, feel free to pm me.

Thanks!

Lelit is th cheapest one I have seen. You can try temperature surfing with gaggia classic or rancilio silvia for sometime. Later can diy install a pid to it.

I am looking to sell my Flair classic + metal tamper. Let me know if interested. It's good for dark/med-dark roasts. Lighter roasts will be hard to extract

Do you all use filtered water together with a softener or just the filter water on its own?

Eg. Brita or Cleansui with Oscar Bilt softener?

I am using cleansui. Is BWT better? Havent come across it in malls.

I can't say its better cause I havent tried any filtration systems yet. BWT has these magnesium bits that they say promotes flavor clarity in teas and coffees. I'm pretty sure it's just a gimmick. I was actually pretty OK with using tap water but I wanted filtered water so my kettle don't scale up quick and also just better drinking water for the family.

If I were u just save up. Get a used at $700 if last owner didn’t maintain and machine gives u headache a mth later u may spend more on repairs if u unlucky. That $300 just count was warranty and peace of mind.

Then again if u can find a HX used and u pretty hands on for $700, go for it.

I think u found the deal here

Dedica Optimisation help

Thanks Lazy_Tiger for your tip. As stated in my original post, I'm using the Breville Smart Grinder 820. I usually can grind between the 7-11 setting for the Delonghi, but recently it can't even push when I set it to really coarse at 13-14.

So you reckon that although Ascaso Dream PID and Delonghi Dedica uses the same Ulka pump, the Ascaso would be able to push better? :s11:

Hello

I'm looking for tips from other Dedica users. I have difficulty getting 25-30s extraction times on my machine with cheapo unpressured basket off Aliexpress.

Current setup:
Breville Smart Grinder Pro: Setting of 2 (machine goes from 1-60, 1 is finest)
15-15.5g dose for 30-32g out
At this setting I get 25s extraction from button press including 5s auto pre-infusion

I wonder if it's ever possible to hit 25-30s extraction with my current setup? Upgrade of machine is in the cards in the future but for now I want to learn on this machine first

Do you think this is a function of using a cheap basket? I have read in another Reddit post that someone bought a Graef 145722 (German brand) basket. Is there a difference between 'brand-name' baskets and OEM baskets? Unsure if I should pump more money into trying to optimise the Dedica at this point or just save up for when it's time to upgrade

Comments and advice very much welcome!!! Thanks

Guys... any recommendations for reliable sites to buy espresso machine spare parts online and can ship to SG?

I'm specifically looking for shower screen, gasket and o-ring, maybe the screw as well. So far, the sites I've seen either do not ship to SG or wants to rob me with the shipping cost i.e parts £12 and shipping £40...

TIA!

I'm also looking for gaskets for my Ms Silvia

Mine dedica using 18g for the double non pressurise basket. Bought from amazon us

Mine jus a normal conical burr grinder on esspresso setting. Using bottomless, the extraction is quite gd, is very thick and slow no leak stream.

Hello

Thanks for the tip, will consider getting a 'branded' basket to try. My basket seems to top out at 15.5g so I don't think I can do 18g
Possible to share the Amazon US link if you still have?
