don't you extract the beans, then froth the milk? and doing both at the same time will save you at most a few minutes?

forgive me if I'm ignorant lol

Yes save you a few minutes and professional systems ensure much stronger thermal stability so you won't over heat and burn off the coffee's flavour.

Of course professional machines are using heavy duty spares and has a higher resistance to last longer.

is it worth the $700 to save me a few minutes every morning if I were to consider the bz10?

my current set up is a hario Syphon and a rancilio rocky

I think it's fine if one were to stick with a limited budget to try out first.
Test if coffee making is what you enjoy doing.
If it's something you find pleasure in doing, you will eventually upgrade to a better machine.
As you use it, you will start to recognise what are the short comings better and know what to look for next.
If you don't enjoy making, at least you are not losing much.

However if you are someone who had been faithfully drinking coffee for a long time, wish to entice your family and kids to enjoy the ritual of making coffee with you. Want to keep your family's drinking habit cleaner.

Then i think it's worth investing for a good machine straight, there's many things that will benefit beside speed. There's better thermal stability to properly groom out majority of the profiles in your coffee, temperature and stable pressure do play a big part.
Commercial standard machines are much more durable, and are a lot easier to make a good shot, meaning lesser wasted shots.
You can do some light maintenance, maybe a repair once in a few years and keep the machine running for life. <There are people who collect antique espresso machines and they are still working>

For a home machine, having a machine that is easy to use for all is also an important factor to consider. Sometimes, just because it's slower by a few minutes, or an extra one or two steps, can keep people from using.

Like what some others are saying, you will need a good enough espresso grinders because you can still use your grinder and adopt to better machines in future.
But it's not really necessary to pay exorbitant amount for it because grinders are dumb machines and only does one thing, grind. But decent ones are probably still above the $400 mark unless you pick hand wound grinders which are more tedious and time consuming to use.
Whatever grinder you purchase, the user will still have to calibrate the grinder to work with the coffee and the machine.

Whatever it is, if you are stepping out to enjoy coffee, whether you are a hipster or not, i think it's good.

Gaggia counter at Taka and Tangs uplorried. I don't have the exact detail but I heard their contract with the distributor is up.

Guess some of you dodged a bullet, warranty coverage for existing gaggias could be tricky.

Now slowly researching for a relatively decent (AND lasting) coffee machine for new home.

Saw Taka got sale the last time for some Kurps coffee machine. From the picture, it appears that it also has some coffee bean hopper on top as well with a milk forthing tube beside it. Anyone owns any Kurps coffee machine?

BTW, heard from a friend that most of those expresso machines advertising anything more than 15 bar of pressure is pretty much hogwash since a human being can't really taste anything 'better' even if the expresso machine produces like 100 bar of pressure on the coffee.

How true is that?

Where do you guys buy your beans online?

I am the odd ball here, I don't stay here so my comment worth nothing IMHO

I online or get it brought over.
Going to Chicago in a few weeks time maybe getting intelligensia or bow truss. Goshen coffee looks good, shipping for very reasonable

Need to do reading

I had been using delonghi coffee machine for 1 month plus. Everyday at least 4 cup. So far so good, no complain.

Anyone know where to buy good and affordable coffee beans?

I bought that for my office pantry. Stupid thing keeps breaking down after 6 mths of use. My staff kept complaining about it so much I ended up buying another one within the year and brought that home for myself to use. That thing can't handle heavy usage

Now using this from Krups in the office

As for coffee, I just buy cheapo Bon Cafe beans from NTUC for the office pantry. My employees seems to like it but personally don't like it. I tried buying expensive ones from fancy cafe joints but now end up just get from Starbucks after I found a particular blend from them I like. U just need to keep trying different ones until U find the ones U like. Expensive doesn't mean good, cheap doesn't mean bad
