Sometimes I think having too much parameter is play is a PITA.

Last time got play some Design of Experiment project before. Say got 5 parameters, we check which is SIGNIFICANT, i.e slight variation then will have a lot of changes, then we play those 2 or 3 parameters enough liao.

Enough of theory hehe. Just my 2cts.

So many parameters, pay so much money, in the end don't even know what is good den funny.
And the boiler so big, water sure not fresh, back fire instead.

Some information here are only useful for cafe owners not home or office users.

Of course we know he is Pro but how come steam milk just put the wand at 1 position and he put so long...

Also why he mixes the milk with different jug..

The jug quite big leh. It can be a one hole wand.

He mixes the milk so the froth will balance out for pouring.

slayer limit those variability by allowing the barista to check on their preferred pressure profiling/temp at the expense of slaying your wallet.

Well for those keen on modification, they can always stick a gauge at the group head and a modulator switch or knob to control the flow or pressure profile on the puck. The only element left will most probably be the temperature..

But with $10k+++++ aud , I would prefer to buy a aeropress , a thermometer and good grinder + a roaster and a holiday ticket.. May be still have some loose change to try omore brandss of coffee. :)

This type good or not?

OR any cheap ones to recommend? In ns eating grass

Quite standard. Great if you have no space for external grinder. Otherwise just purchase them separately.

Importance of a Good grinder > machine.
But cite your budget. Your cheap budget may be a slayer? :x

Plus water going into the steam boiler is already preheated to maintain a stable temp. Apparently the pressure gauge on the slayer reads the pressure at the group like a scace ii and not like the usual one we have that needs to take into account the pressure lost from the gicleurs and the brewpath.

But yes ahh its 13k AUD....10k can get me on a luxury holiday to machu pichu.....

From Bezzera. Claims that smaller vibratory pumps in home machines need to be set at higher pressure up to 11 bars compared to commercial rotary pumps due to less throughput even though pressure might be the same. Interesting...watch when he mentions how did the 9 bar standard came about...

I remember in one of Scott Rao's books, mentioning its best to tune the pressure of the pump to achieve the highest brew ratio possible and thereafter adjusting the grind and dose to get the proper extraction yield. Apparently up to a certain point higher pressures actually result in less flow rate because the pressure compacts the puck even more and thus restricting the flow.

I think his wand is one hole, my Brewtus also one hole.

I remember read somewhere one hole must position from the side.
That's what i saw he did.

If multi holes i think must put at middle.

Ya one hole foam slower one, one point i tot my steam power weak almost wanted to change the tip. Then i read one hole can foam longer better for newbies so i kept it.

Look like i must try his method.

Help! I'm in deep trouble!

I currently have 5 packs of beans at home. And I'm the only one drinking coffee at home!

2 days ago, I only have 1 pack, the four chairs by Nylon. About a week ago, I decided to give Oz another chance and ordered their House Blend and Chiang Rai SO. I also feedback to them about my last experience. They apologised and offered a complimentary pack of Roadster! So today, I received 3 packs from Oz. I was due to receive them earlier but the beans were held up at the customs. The House Blend was opened up for inspection! (You can see a 'customs' sticker over the pack.)

Yesterday, my colleague who has just returned from Taiwan bought me a pack. 450gm vacuum sealed stale beans that was roasted on March 27th.

another thing to note, the guys at Oz have top notch service! They tried their best to deliver asap but got held up at customs, which wasn't their fault actually. So when it finally cleared customs, they hand delivered to me personally!

sometimes i believe this small big pumps are just marketing.

To me -Small pump acting like big pump is just cost saving or just cost shifting through warranty programs. Normally home barista works slower and won't overwork or hit the the pump threshold like commercial barista.

Taste is so subjective that it's also hard to debunk that big pump = better taste.

Separate into small packs (those little plastic thingys with lots of square holes type), tie at top and put them into shoe and / or kitchen cabinet. Great for removing smells. :D
