my health has deteriorate so much so that since 15 years back i cannot drink expresso anymore, unless i wan to hv to stomache rupture.

yea, drip or french. I am more realistic, hobby is good. but has to be worth the cent and within one's means. like if there is local support is a good example.

I own a nespresso citiz 5 years ago :o, serve me very well as when i need a good cup for the work n studies late into dawn hours. cost me $500 aud back then, i was very very poor back then, after 3 months, my losses are recouped!!

i will consider a real expresso machine when i own a landed ppty with my family :) alone drink no feel. with family, its different

Then prepare to spend more of you need to make for your family

According to science iirc espresso extract less caffeine and other chemicals as compared to drip coffee or French press.
2 oz of espresso around 100-60gm of caffeine, 8oz of black 65-200gm.
If u drink black pure espresso in 8oz cup that's more chemicals than your French press. Of course how much beans used.

If u learn to drink latte, 1oz of espresso to say 4-7 oz of milk, it will be easy on tummy and less chems intake

I hope u don't have to make aud$10k/mth to get a real machine, by then with inflation etc a machine will be around 2k a start grinder in theory should cost at least 0.25 the cost of machine.

I think you better see a specialist, acid reflux.

Anyway I bought my Nespresso Le Cube machine + milk frother at $800 from Takashimaya when it first started in SG, think 8 years ago.

Problem is it breaks every 3 years, the gaskets gave way.
Then Citiz with milk($700), followed by U $300+(melt in a week).

Plus the cost of the capsules( About 3-4 a day), i think i spent $10k+ unknowningly. $100+ per mth.
I'm still using Nespresso for decaf though.

Otherwise 15grams on my Brewtus can make me two cups, cut the cost by half.
Kazaar blend, our favourite, turns out to be a very normal Italian blend which don't cost much.

Mine is more to a dollar and cent direction.

If one is to drink just 1 cup a day, i think Nespresso is still the best solution.

I personally think you need to drink more water to flush out.

Avoid the coffee from cafes outside, many are using very heavy dosages which won't be good for your kidneys and stomach.

Eh if you mean u can't urinate out, it simply means your kidneys are dehydrated and keeping all the water to survive.
You should drink even more water.

If you been like this for many years, i suggest check your urine for foam and go urine test check for protein.

My family are mostly in medical care.

u confused,
Bezzera is $599, discount if U buy those $1k+ machine.

yes, warranty is an issue. U are responsible for the shipping fees.

The warranty they offer is not manufacturer warranty directly thru them.

Singapore is terrible, becoming like china.
- refuse to support of parallel imported goods!

Then again what the chances of the motor and electric components failing? I not finding such cases. Its a risk U have to take. I buy used grinder its older than 5yrs old and still running like a rock! changing burrs U can do it yourself, unless U not been cleaning and burrs get stuck like crazy U have to take it in. I wouldn't expect them to fail within their 2-3yr warranty.

or u get a Euraka Mignon in Malaysia for 1200 Rm or sgd470. can siam GST I bet. just have to find the store in JB. commonly retail at 1.6K but can be bargain down to 1.2k. suppose to be better than Rocky.

try this place too

Ohh i see, thanks for the clarification ! I think i will get it locally to be safer.

From what i've been reading, you had a problem with milk at first, that was your initial concern. Why rush for a grinder?

$500 for a grinder isn't a small amount for a student.
Since you are a student, i think just get a slightly better hand grinder which is affordable will do. Not sure those Hario will work.

No point getting a highend grinder to match your current machine, doubt it will work well either. You have a grinder don't you.

If you are expecting the best, you'll still need to upgrade both machine and grinder.
Anyway, i think local support is very important, especially for something mechanical.

Yup, the machine is pretty cheapo but it's a gift from my gf so i will have to make do with it now. I can't steam milk properly with the machine for now as well. I've read investing in a good grinder can last for quite a well because i will most likely be upgrading to a better espresso machine in the future when i'm working. So i was pondering i might as well get it first ? Anw is the Hario Skerton good for a hand grinder ?

$400 machine and now thinking of $500 grinder.. Hmm
If he knows he will sure to upgrade come grad and working say 2 yrs
Getting an expensive grinder maybe ok, really depends on comfort zone. I don't know if he makes coffee for 2 or 4. Just himself a cheap hand grinder will do just wake up 15 mins early to grind beans

Yup that's my point for now. Most likely i will be upgrading to a better machine in the future. So i was thinking to get at least a decent grinder first.

wah, i din even follow thru the posts...$500 for a grinder? seriously?

I am also another coffee fever fan, ok maybe not as feverish as king and some of the dudes here, i working adult die die also wun spend $500 for a grinder. well, i mite if i earn >10k a month.

Hand grinder $60 each, and its pretty nice as it is for 1 person serving.
personally cos i dun hv time, i just pay for a $60 machine grinder. not the best of the world but equally gives me a decent cuppa of long black

Might consider getting a hand grinder already, budget really too tight haha

I'm wondering if the hario skerton will work well with the delonghi eco310. Got my friend to purchase a pacarama roadster blend, grinded at the shop (not sure which grinder) but it is super fine. The machine got choked cand can't even pull out a shot -.-

are you weighing your dose? try reducing your dose by 1gm and adjust from there till you get a 1:2 brew ratio

Hard to eyeball the grind from the pics but it could be due to the pressurized portafilter. Or perhaps it's not the standard 58mm size

As chilkyblink said dose accurately. Use 14g for double. Use a scale accurate to 0.1g. AWS makes a good small cheap scale. U can get it at nylon coffee.

Maybe you tamp too hard too. Most people overestimate the 30lbs or so that is standard. Can try with a light tamp.

A espresso machine given as a gift from a loved one will make espresso far sweeter than any made with a slayer, Synesso, KBDW, Victoria Arduino etc. Even better if the latte is shared with the gifter....seriously :)

About the Skerton I won't recommend because the burr assembly and axle doesn't look very stable and wobbles a fair bit when grinding. Same as as the mini mill. Uses ceramic burss which are not sharp and creates alot of fines.

The zassenhaus is sold at tangs but I don't have much experience with them. Some posters at home barista swears by them. I saw them once and I recall not being very impressed with the burr assembly too.

Don't mean it can't be used but it has to be finished asap since powdered coffee sure oxidise very rapidly.

Reduce the amount of coffee dose.
If it's totally nothing coming out, i think can minus 2g+ straight, about half teaspoon.

1 tbspoon is about 14.5 grams.
Your machine don't come with coffee scoop?
I'll try 8-9 g if i'm you if it's a single porterfilter.

If your portafilter is below 58mm, i think i will reduce even lesser.

Actually if the grinder states it can grind fine enough for espresso machines, should be ok.
Compatible or not, not only depends on the grind level, also the dose.

In addition to that, i don't blindly follow dose weight.
It will never be consistent, cause a few days later, your beans oxidise, the crema will be thinner and you need to grind finer or add dose to compensate.

It's a moving goalpost, but i already figured out the pattern to play along

i have depressurise the portafilter already. It's not the standard 58mm one. A double shot is about 12g in my 53mm basket and it chokes up the machine pretty bad. I'm still im the process of lowering the dose to pull a decent shot. I did try not to tamp too hard as well.

My coffee scoop is about 7g. A double shot basket is about 12g only. It's smaller than the standard size. Ya i have tried reducing but still not optimal enough. Thanks for the info , it did help me!
