It shd be based on the strategic objectives that need to be achieved and maintained, then work backwards to determine the most efficient approach.
Well then, we probably won’t know the strategic objectives since it has never been disclosed. I guess the lesser transparency has resulted in many of us questioned the spending in military.

very funny to even think that we are at war, or there's even a country that bothers getting in a war with us.

what can they gain? there's no resources, it's a pathetic small island, crippling sg would also mean crippling neighbouring's economy.

if they think by getting into a war with us by replacing the current govt, and that they truly believe their leadership will bring sg even further, i'd say, go ahead.

But that's the nature of defense, or protective sector work mah

Is like hiring security guards, or engaging cybersecurity firms to protect your company's network.

Just because most of the time nothing happens, it doesn't mean security not necessary
community safe..no nid lock our gate and door..

even sg armed to the teeth some neighbor still fly helikopter intrude our airspace, given they have many time more air space. if no arm or weak army, they army everyday walk in walk out, ask you do this do that, restrict you from this and that ... just short of sending troops in.

This type u cant exactly announce to the world rite?

The next best thing will be to look at the outcome that has been achieved so far i suppose.

It is also impt for citizens to be cognisant of the circumstances n risks faced, and not become complacent.

Most of the $$$ probably used to feed those useless encik and occifer that go to office to do paperwork every day, and do IPPT every few months that’s all.

Then they want to tekan reservist people as though they mean something outside of the camp.

$$$ definitely not spent on equipment LOL.

You are thinking too simplistically. Going into war with Singapore means:
- X country will get to replace us as financial hub in the region
- Y country will get to replace us as the shipping hub in the region
- Z country will get to replace us as the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul leader global

And many more. They don't need Singapore, if its gone, its all the same.

Do you mean we have water because we have credible army and not because we have signed an agreement with Malaysia?
Have u read our history with malaysia? You know there are times where Malaysia leader threaten to turn off the water whenever they have minor disputes with us even though we have a water agreement? Its was so bad that lky have to tell Dr M if they turn off our water , we will come take it ourself.

If we don't have a army that outweigh malaysia, do you think Malaysia leaders will be scare of Lky words?

Its also why our army always train to fight in conditions similar to malaysia landscape and not Indonesia. Our army is an offensive force cause we need to secure our water supply in Malaysia.

"Singapore was so determined to protect its water supply that former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew purportedly said he was prepared to send troops if Malaysia ever decided to cut off the water supply."

They have been pouring money into ST logistics, ST kinetics, ST engineering etc. but our defense industry still way behind other nations such as Japan and S.Korea... not seeing the returns...

In this new century due to the fact we host usa naval ships here, this alone make us a target if war break out in scs.
