After trading blows for iterations of cards, 2 things still hold true:

1) Nvidia provides better single-card solution than AMD.
2) AMD Eyefinity is still more superior than Nividia Surround.

Couldnt have agreed more.

I did feel a demo on Eyefinity setup before, and i have to say it is still much superior over NV surround and pretty much more convenient to use.

But it leaves me into something that i do not understand, a non matured drivers, basically Beta, and performs darn well in a pair rather than single, and pulls ahead of Titan X and 980ti in SLI at most 4k results, and scales wonderfully which AMD have never been good all along.

But at lower Res, HBM dont seems to be kicking in well enough. @_@ whats wrong?

Im just hoping that it is just drivers issues that AMD have emphasize too much on 4k and neglects the lower res?

IMHO, at lower resolution, 2 possible issues.

1. RAM bandwidth not an issue, hence HBM does not provide much benefit.

2. Other bottlenecks like texture units.

Still no updates on new Afterburner software to unlock voltages yet at the moment. Although there will be one soon. Hopefully by next week. :s12:

i can't decide between MSI 390 and 390X. does 390X performance worth the $200 extra?

it might not be worth it but itz psychologically better to go for "da better/best" so you don't look back with "anger/envy"

Then join the TX SLI club lol. Sibei warp logic. :s22::s22:
No need look back, no stuttering at most SLI flickering issues lolol.

Hi Roy, thanks for your review and article! I am a hardware noob and just look for things that i can play games with. Actually weighing all the pros and cons of each card, i was intending to buy a FuryX 2 weeks ago (instead ended up with GTX 980ti AMP!) instead when i was making my new rig. Was intrigued by the strong performance and most importantly, the LOW temps brought from the cooling solution. Unfortunately, that was just 1 week after release and no stocks were available and i couldnt wait :D

I dont upgrade my computer very often (last one was 4 years old), and i have no science to prove, but am of the view that heat really plays a big part in how long a computer can last and continue to serve well even in the future. Just my 2c worth for people to consider this factor which is not a small one at well. Running a single screen at 1440p, i think FuryX or 980ti will still crush anything thrown at it these days.

Looking fwd to see price developments for the rest of AMD/NV line and new technologies being developed!

Now i just need to choose a new monitor to match my 980ti. 1080p really no kick already.

Ahh. Thanks thanks.

Yeap basically so long as it is 1440p either the furyX and 980ti could handle it without any issues.

Enjoy your 980ti! Oc more out of it.

BOOM!

This is awesome. The new drivers really worked. :s12:

Farcry 4 on 1440p with all Preset Ultra settings.

Note that it is just on stock clock. No OC, nor HBM OC.

the thing is heat is neither a difficult nor expensive thing to counter. A better airflow casing, few fans, ventilation etc. Of cos the other way is to spend more on a cooler gpu.

the good thing is with cooler gpu these days, the point of getting small cases makes more sense unless one needs lots of drives. but even itx cases can fit around 4 drives, which will be more than enough for most users.
