new nerf, mcc 6300 insurance can only pay using transferrable balance

Why can’t I use my GrabPay Card at some merchants?
...
You may refer to the list below for the types of merchants/MCCs of which users can only tap on the transferable balance in their GrabPay wallet to make GrabPay Card transactions:

Ez-link app under MCC 4111
Selected e-wallet top-ups and remittance services under MCC 6540
Selected insurance providers under MCC 6300
AXS under MCC 7299

yea, only got to know about this last night when i try to pay for my travel insurance and payment got rejected 💩

Well, when there are too much "publicized" blogs and articles on how to "beat the system", the loopholes will be closed since the service providers will be breeding with all the massive abuse.. LOL

Tried to pay msig insurance just now via their web. It say insufficient fund in wallet for transfer etc. didnt know about this, so do take note.
Second that. Grab wallet indeed getting useless as time goes on. Time to source alternatives if there is any.

Although it is getting nerfed, is there any other suitable wallet that has a wide spectrum of merchants or hawkers?

All slowly dying. Shopee have lost a lot of merchant recently. Shopback is very aggressive but it’s riding on grab and credit card and I suspect will also suffer same fate as grab/shopee sooner or later.

If accept grab.. almost all will accept paynow.. no benefits of topping up the wallet..

Still has benefit. Firstly much faster to pay by Grabpay instead of Paynow (less steps). Secondly, credit extended as Grab is topup by credit card compared to direct bank deduction.

You still need to topup everytime.. and the money stuck inside might as well keep in bank for interest..
