Which GPU should I go for?

Hi guys, I would like to check with some of those who bought GTX 970, have the memory issues been fixed???

Beside that I would like to ask if my system can support that graphic card???

Overview of my System:

CPU+Motherboard : Intel 2nd Gen 2500 3.3GHz + Biostar Z68K+
Powersupply : Super Flower AMAZON 550W (Bronze +85)

edit: PS my system is almost 5 years and reason for getting is because my GTX 560ti is dead.

edit 2: Changing my mind on getting GTX 970

what issue ? the 3.5G and 0.5G ?
i think it is by design, so they don't intend to fix it..
it is just missunderstanding between the marketing team and the engineering team..

as long as you don't go beyond full hd, you should not face the problem.

But if you intend to go 1440p or above in in future , get R9 390 and above.

550w can support gtx 970. All gpu are backward compatible as long as your mobo have the pcie 16x gpu slot.

Like other has mentioned. If you playing at 1080p resolution. Chances are you will be fine.

If you intend to play on higher resolution, you will need to sacrifice other kind of grapphics settings. You might need to turn down a notch or two.

At this rate of games we are going, most AAA 1080p titles will probably take between 2gb-3gb. Some worse optimzed games can take up to 4gb.

GTX 970 got problem meh. Rock solid dude. Wont go wrong. If your are referring to the scandal that the rest have mentioned, there is no way to fix it. its an "error" in marketing. Anyway, I would hold off, since polaris coming out soon! Adopt a wait and see approach if possible!

your dell U2312HM is a full hd monitor.

There will not be any issue if you use the gtx 970 with yr current monitor

Buy a better graphics card if using higher than 1080p resolution.

Actually, the issue with the scandal is already fixed. Nvidia misrepresented the product and they have owned up. Hardware wise, its permanent unfortunately.

The GTX 970 should run most games at 1440p based on my understanding. The main competitor being the AMD R9 390 8GB, is also a great card to consider.

Yes it can run most games at 1440p as long as it uses less than 3.5 gb of vram.

But once it hits above 3.5 gb, the fps will drop and become barely playable some certain titles.

So chances are you will not want to set to the max setting, then what is the
point of getting it?
