Hi all,

Need some advise. Booked my tixs to GZ on 20/Jan till 30/Jan. Planning to SZ midway.
Hotels I have in mind,
20-24/Jan - Lavende Hotel Guangzhou Beijing road
24-26/Jan - Hyatt Place Shenzhen Dongmen
26-30/Jan - One&One International Hotel Apartment.
Can someone advise if the above hotels are convenient, as in near eateries, shopping, etc?
What's the best way to get to Shenzhen and back, was checking highspeed train but confused as to take from which station and align at which station in SZ.
Please add on if there are other hotel recommendations, food or must-do in both SZ and GZ.

I stayed in one&one last Oct. Decent, clean hotel surrounded by malls and makan. Metro is below the building and easy walking distance to Beijing Lu.

High speed train is the easiest. GZ and SZ railway station.

Just came back from Shenzhen recently. Stayed at Hyatt Place Shenzhen Dongmen.

Location is ideal, exit hotel, turn right at the first junction and you will see the start of Dongmen pedestrian street already (can actually see the first MacDonald in CN from far).

Beside the hotel is a mall with GU at the ground floor and eateries on the higher level. Laojie Station exit is right round the corner.

Just take note on weekend, it can get very crowded and full of jam (for cars-Didi and metro alike)

There are many options for HSR alone, the G types are fastest, between Guangzhou North Station, Guangzhou South Station and Shenzhen North Station or Futian.

Like what the link above tells you. The time you save from the train ride itself can be lost from the time you need to get to or from the stations, so the other types like the C may work better because their stations are better situated for your needs.

As I'm bringing my elderly parents along, it will be good to know if there are food (for breakfast) just a stone's throw from the hotel.

The hotels you selected are all at tourist/busy locations so be prepared for crowds, but provides you convenience definitely.
HSR wise for me, I just go for the ones nearest and base off your hotels will be:
GZ: 广州站
SZ: 深圳站

There's malls, eateries etc. with the hotels at your locations so nothing to worry.
GZ more of food and shopping, SZ nothing much in my opinion at least.

Hi I just return from Shanghai and Suzhou . Love the vibrancy of SH and also the lovely waterways of SZ. I have another upcoming trip to GZ end of this month . Already ticketed and it’s a 5 days trip .

would like to ask , would it be wise to spend it fully in GZ or I should do a day trip to Shenzhen / Shunde (Foshan) to see see? I’m avoiding meuseums , historical sites , gardens as I’m not really into those

There are four train station in GZ (if I remember correctly). I took the train from the Guangzhou South Station last month (Dec 2025). In term of Shenzhen destination station, I understand that 深圳站 is referred to as the one at LoHu District. That station is the closest to DongMeng. Yes, there's North, South, East & West stations.
Yes, 深圳站 is the one at 罗湖 just at the SZ-HK crossing which is closest to 东门.

I mistakenly selected the 广州南站 before and took a long time to travel back to 越秀 area previously.
The station was huge though, took a long time to walk out and reach the DIDI PUDO point... since then have actively avoided 广州南站 unless staying/visiting the area.

SZ can just skip since there's nothing much in my opinion, it's pretty much like SG, man-made attractions.

Oh yes, 清远古龙峡漂流玻璃大峡谷 & 古龙峡悬崖飞车 which is further out of GZ.

I search trip.com to book car there but seems like can’t find

it’s about $50sgd more if I charter a car 2.5hrs up there vs using hsr+didi 3hrs . Anyone got driver contact that I can inquire for cost? Im thinking for comfort I will charter unless really no choice

You can book Didi through alipay. Driver will message you if needed.

As backup if your phone supports esim, can buy from shopee. Buy only when needed. I got a China data sim for $8, for 8 days as backup as I'll be using Baidu map.

Massage standards are fine for most places from my experience.

Therefore, please pay close attention and be proactive to update your location with photos/landmarks etc. for ease of wayfinding by the drivers especially at busy locations like HSR stations/airports etc. even with the designated PUDO points as there's usually a crowd and will be a mess.
If your data is running out during your trip, get those Shopee eSIMs otherwise, if your local SG cards that has roaming and able to purchase add-ons, just purchase.

i remember during those days, those meg Massage complex is huge, at least 100 masseurs in many rooms on multiple floors! Hope to find this type of authentic Tui-nas! If can find chinese Xinseh for injuries even better!

They might call you to locate you as they might likely be not be able to find you in the mess at the PUDO points.
With AML, the resulting cause is that SIM cards etc. as with most places are more regulated than before so airports/telco shops are the places usually where you can get SIM cards. Or just go with roaming eSIMs from Shopee/local MNOs/MVNOs.

Yeah, I can understand but sorry, can't help with Roast Goose. Maybe I had them but can't recall any specific locations unfortunately.
Others might possibly be of help! Let's see if anyone comes by to point you in the right direction.

Yes, nightlife cost is similar to SG nowadays in China.
Apart from eat & shop is to eat & shop, and sightseeing those tourist/打卡 spots.
