For airbrushing on a general note I would recommend dh-103

Im also using this ab, so far so good, smooth , but hvnt try shading yet .

Thanks but HAW is kinda out of the way. plus, i will be in orchard area so its more convenient for me.

and seeing the noozle size of 0.2,0.25,0.3mm etc, does the different sizes affect way of ab? like 0.3 for normal use and 0.2 for pre/post shading? not sure myself about this.

Don't listen to what other people said till you got a feels and test it out the airbrush yourself personal.


Before you buy an airbrush do consider the following :

Does the airbrush provide after sales service ?
Does you airbrush got warranty ?
Does your airbrush got spare parts to replace ?
Does the shop you buy from provide servicing for your airbrush ?
Does the shop you buy from give you a introduction course on basic usage of airbrush e.g.
how to clean your airbrush and basic guide ?
Do compare the trigger pull feeling for different airbrush before you decide.
Does the airbrush give you an option to change the Cup and Needle size ?


Hope this help you to choose your wanted airbrush.

i got a DH-102 and a Hobbymate HM135, i do use my hobbymate 0.3 for preshading, actually i just spam the black and the cover with whatever colour, max technique FTW

my sd rx example, and dont ask me about the mold lines on the poles, im too lazy to remove them and in the end it gets covered by the head and the arms

my DH-102 is still sealed and collecting dust, not enough level and stats to use it..... level 30 item, i still level 1 only

The iwata level 300.. I only level 0.. Haiz.. Even a 5 year old can do better than me

iwata lvl 300 item I lvl 0.001 but I still using it. cos I equip the noob ring den u can cancel item requirement.
but the cons of the noob ring is item durability reduce by 800%

I use Gaia moderate thinner for fluorescent clear. I use them for all colors which I want them to look glossy. as for super fine silver, I use gaia metallic thinner. dun haf any dot dot problems with it. looks very fine snd smooth. only mr super metallic super chrome sm06 I use leveling thinner, as like wat u saw on the link, it doesn't seem to dissolve in other thinners.

both sm06 and sm08 plate silver next I got them from online. but I did saw sm08 selling at hobby point. sm08 is pre thinned. and I would prefer it over alclad as it doesn't get rub off that easily.

as for fluorescent clear result, it's not exactly very noticeable. it gives purplish tint when u use it over. somehow I feel, it makes the metallic colors looks more 'metal' as compare to just normal gloss coat. for crystal colors, unless u use it over blue or silver, or some darker tones, else the purplish tint might alter the final look of the color. unless u want it intentionally. hasn't really tried b4 though. but I did tried it over gloss black and I got a black with purplish hue.

Gaia moderate thinner is just normal thinner w/o (or lesser) smell, so I guess Naka thinner will do as well. Your link did mention dun use SM series with gaia metallic thinner, but yours are ok. I guess the link user just happen to try on the type (SM07) that can't use the metallic thinner!

SM08 is selling in hobby point?! Maybe I will dropby to take a look, long time never go there liao. I think the price should be quite 'nice'. Oh btw, Gaia apart from the light and dark stainless silver, I just saw that they have stainless silver!

From what you said, I guess the fluorescent clear gives a purple (or maybe blue tint) so that it brings out the metallic or fluorescent color underneath it. (If you observe metal, especially stainless steel in mrt stns or in lifts, certain angle can see a bit of blue hue) So it should work for mr color/ crystal series as well. Oh no got to spend monies again...

yea. i don't know if its the best way to do it, but i did it the usual way of by applying the tamiya thin cement, pressing the parts together and slowly sanding it off.
