search and seems like hobbymate only have this 2 airbrush. 0.3 is for normal airbrushg, and 0.2 is used on ab on smaller area. right to say this? or whats the difference between the two?

PG strike freedom not bad. part count really a lot because of the dragoon system. quite fun to build. (some hate the dragoon because its repetitive). I got it at warehouse sale for 270. for this price its hard to complain. maybe you can also look around for sale.
I must say original gold painting by bandai is .... red plastic also very dull.... and so on and so forth...must paint then the kit will shine. can see example at HAW. quite nicely done .

PG raiser: never see cheap one :S
PG redframe: no hab. one of the most affordable newer kit though. should be good but dont expect part count having more than strike freedom.

MG: .....
redframe quite fun. got big weapon + stand.
sinanju will poison you to paint metallic... curvy curvy... nice...
FA unicorn: lots of parts. but most is weapon. and can be quite repetitive. 6x gatling gun ???

Haha I know! I got a MG Speigel as my first kit, did it totally by hand( no tools whatsoever) like 4 years ago, saved like hell for it back then, just removed all the nub marks recently XD
Then got my Clear Colour Stike Freedom VS Legend when I went Hong Kong for about S$70 XD
When i finally had some money from NS, I got a MG Aile Strike from Malaysia, about $50.
Just finished a HG Trans-am Arios, dunno whether to panel line or not as it has gloss effect
backlog of RG Zaku and Freedom, as well as HG 00 Raiser as well as 2 MC model kits lol.
And I still want more!

Oh ya, I presently use Copic Marker 0.05 to panel line, but it seems to be unable to get in the lines for HG kits, any tips?

bro, I am using all my metallic paints with Gaia metallic thinner. I do have Gaia starbright silver.
and it has been in exile ever since I started using mr super metallic paints.
sometimes what u pay is what u get. plate silver next cost $16 bucks ( pre- thinned) and the alclad stuffs were pretty ex as well ( pre thinned too).

btw I find the Gaia train series light and dark stainless silver pretty impressive too. finer than starbright silver and bling level pretty high. shoot 1-2 layers of fluorescent clear over, they look pretty wicked.

Yes I agree, sometimes what u pay is what u get. Alclad stuffs I heard were pretty blink too, but very thin coat (my impression is easy to be scratch off) and will tarnish overtime, so I skip them totally. And yes, they are ex too~

Thanks, I got both light and dark stainless silver. The dark one seems like you can just mist a thin coat of smoke over the light one.

Btw, may I check with you what type of thinner do you use with gaia fluorescent clear? How many coats, and do it has any noticeable effect on mr crystal color and SMXX (Super Metallic) series? I have SM01~SM05, just can't find SM06 (chrome silver) & SM07 (plate silver)[I think now replaced by plate silver next] in Singapore.

For the SM01 (super fine silver) do you use normal or leveling thinner? I use leveling thinner as the box suggests, quite difficult to airbrush, and the results got dots-dots...

And also since we are on this topic, just to share, there is another paint more shiner than gaia starbright silver, its origin shop M-304 chrome silver. Also about $10+, I think Hobby Kulture still have stock.

ya pg sf need to give it some bling bling gold paint...find their yellow for the gold parts to be lacking..

suggest u use panel wash...instead of markers
in fact for your trans am kits use red panel wash...that's what I intend to do for mine, just a suggestion

hem... no leh.. I personally dun think the wing is that fragile.
I did break few pegs though. This kit is all snap fit one... (older PG use screws..) so once assembled, very difficult to disassemble. I made some mistake during assembly, and need to disassemble, so...pry here...pry there...some peg snap . luckily it was like one of 4 pegs or something, so even brake one still no issue.

my advice would be slowly slowly do... make sure everything is correct before snapping all into place. then you will not have any issue.

I use Gaia moderate thinner for fluorescent clear. I use them for all colors which I want them to look glossy. as for super fine silver, I use gaia metallic thinner. dun haf any dot dot problems with it. looks very fine snd smooth. only mr super metallic super chrome sm06 I use leveling thinner, as like wat u saw on the link, it doesn't seem to dissolve in other thinners.

both sm06 and sm08 plate silver next I got them from online. but I did saw sm08 selling at hobby point. sm08 is pre thinned. and I would prefer it over alclad as it doesn't get rub off that easily.

as for fluorescent clear result, it's not exactly very noticeable. it gives purplish tint when u use it over. somehow I feel, it makes the metallic colors looks more 'metal' as compare to just normal gloss coat. for crystal colors, unless u use it over blue or silver, or some darker tones, else the purplish tint might alter the final look of the color. unless u want it intentionally. hasn't really tried b4 though. but I did tried it over gloss black and I got a black with purplish hue.

ymmv - your mileage may vary, internet slang means your results may vary

most people buy DH-102, DH-103, or the SP-35c with nozzle of 0.2, 0.3, 0.35 respectively. Heard that 0.35 is good for metallics, but i dont have any 0.35 so i cannot justify........

For airbrushing on a general note I would recommend dh-103

Don't listen to what other people said till you got a feels and test it out the airbrush yourself personal.


Before you buy an airbrush do consider the following :

Does the airbrush provide after sales service ?
Does you airbrush got warranty ?
Does your airbrush got spare parts to replace ?
Does the shop you buy from provide servicing for your airbrush ?
Does the shop you buy from give you a introduction course on basic usage of airbrush e.g.
how to clean your airbrush and basic guide ?
Do compare the trigger pull feeling for different airbrush before you decide.
Does the airbrush give you an option to change the Cup and Needle size ?


Hope this help you to choose your wanted airbrush.
