done another kit:

this time i used ZiG millenium 0.05 marker with gundam marker for panel line.
zig-millennium.jpg

The ZiG marker is good for narrow spaces.
only around $2 at popular. the ink is kinda watery like the enamel wash like and is easy to wipe away. once it dries it wont be easily wiped away
still waiting for the decals.. my hands itching to use the can of Mr Super Clear topcoat already.

the water slide decals arrived today.. all was well til i realised the rx78-2 decals were not pre-cut. my bad for not confirming with the seller, really tough to cut out the exact shape and trimming the excess for someone who never used water decals like me..

all done after working the whole day.
but of course, mishaps do happen =/

after adding decals i proceeded to topcoat the torso first, little did i know that on the first spray, a large spurt of the solution came out, seem like the pressure was too high. This caused a milky effect on the front part of the torso =( to salvage it i scraped the parts off but that left a large mark, lucky though from far not too obvious.

Should have use a runner to try spray first, or you can buy a plastic spoon and try spray(dunno who said so, but credits to him)

yup, had to learn it the hard way :(
after that i had to spray few more bursts for the pressure to decrease.
Did i buy a old can? next time i will check first every new can..

Nice that you're going to the decal stages and all.

But about the white effect, I believe it's frosting, and you could have fixed it through other methods without damaging the topcoat/decal/layers. Happens when I spray topcoat after a rainy day usually, there's other reasons too like the can is cold or something.

For example, I will spray gloss coat over it and others would airbrush thinner if I'm not wrong.

for decals that go over panel lines, such as the big one on the shield, u shld do the panel line after putting the decal. i.e. the panel lines shld still be showing and not covered by the decal.

this is because panel lines represents the gaps between 2 plates of armour. so there shldnt be any decal 'floating' on these gaps

so much frosting and your decal never use mark setter and softer?

can see the edges and your plastic surface frosty like top coat fail.
