1 day or 1 night? I think day cruise don't really have option, there were just two routes to choose from in my case.

My bad, I mean just a day tour.
Wondering if anyone hv done it and if it’s enough. Found a tour that uses the express so trim down travel time.

Ifur starting from Hanoi, it takes ard 4 hrs to reach halong and another 4 to return, suggest u rethink abt a day tour if that's ur case cause already 8 hrs gone like this

Thanks redname, but like I mentioned, found a cruise that uses the new express that cuts to 2 hour each way so am a bit greedy and wonder if do all the things in one day with limited time of course would do.

If you're like me and not that interested to stay overnight, can just do the day tour. I didn't find halong bay to be spectacular.

Do you mean 2 hours express road travel from Hanoi to Halong Bay...it is almost like Formula 1 speed which is impossible given the narrow roads and heavy traffic.

With you, halong bay go for the 2D1N. Do they bring you to visit Surprising cave, pearl farm or kayaking etc for one day trip?
King Kong was there.

I was using the new expeessway last year, it is not really an expressway...haha. In Vietnam, a one lane road with no traffic lights also called expressway. With that new expressway, took about 3+ hours to Halong and 4+ hours back to Hanoi.

Some cruise don't bring u to pearl farm, jus found out from cousin who went there too

All these tour locations... Whether got visit or not... It depends on "profit-sharing"

If the owner is willing to share more profits... Very naturally the tour guide will bring the tourists there

This is what I’m talking about. I was on it last month and at least 2 lanes straight toll highway toll and brightly lit. It did take about 2.5+ hrs.

If you're like me and not that interested to stay overnight, can just do the day tour. I didn't find halong bay to be spectacular.

2 nites on halong bay cruise? then u better choose expensive ones or bring some entertainment (without internet) cause u'll be bored to tears

is it a good time to travel there over CNY?

will the shops or places of interest be open?

nope cause they celebrate in a big way too.

imho, the only place tht's still active during cny and not too expensive or far away is thailand

dnt believe those websites say this or tht taxi coy is reliable, wont scam.

i took a taxi tht my hotel arranged and was scammed, gd thing my hotel got note down the taxi number and later investigate and the driver admit he scammed us. amount is small but honesty is impt

Just go with Mai Linh, Vinasun or CP
Otherwise just take Grab car and pay in cash
