Previous pair of earphones was a Rockit R-50 which lasted me a good amount of time. This is going to be my first high-end pair of earphones. I prefer balanced armature earphones (for more accurate sounds).

With your requirements, IEM with detachable cable, so you can also change to those with mic and volume control, brands that came up to my mind are Westones and Shures. But with this price range, why not you take a look at customs IEM also, bro? We have the range from Unique Melody and from the genre of songs you're listening, I think that UM Miracle is one of the good options if you can extend the budget.

It's a good thing we can interact with our customers mostly on the sales floor as we can see and hear what are their normal preferences or comparison with one headphone. Like with your inquiry, immediately, only two models came up to my mind, and those are the Vmoda M100 and Marshall Monitor. Most of the time, these three are the ones we see being compared to. Of course, all of us have different sound preference and comfortability is a big factor also (like we have different sizes of the ears) so we still strongly suggest that you try out these two models also for comparison. Do let the staff/s know your inputs as well and they can recommend more accordingly if needed.

Sennheiser HD598 IMO... I think it works excellently with all genres

If you like a bit more treble up top, there is always the Audio Technica ATH-AD900x

If you can just fork out more... there is the excellent HD600

I am using a few years old beats studio and want to get a new headphone. I like the beats strong bass and clarity but I am a noob in headphone and from what I see, there r much better value for $ headphone out there.

I usually use it when in office hence a closed but comfortable headphone is appreciated. Beats tend to get a bit hot after a while (or is it the same for all closed headphone).

Another noob question, beats headphone need battery to power. Is it the same for the others?

Closed headphones with leather pads trap heat, velour not so much

And unless they are noise cancelling, they don't really need battery

Agreed to the JVC FX850. Clear mids, controlled and tight bass which are ideal for the genre of songs that you're listening. Other models you can take a look at are Audio Technica ATH-IM03 and Westone UM Pro 20. Give them a try first and decide which one suits to your liking the most.

What do you mean can level? I did think about ATH-IM03, any thoughts on that?

Can level meaning soundstage is pretty much as close to open headphones. You won't feel you are in a bathroom or some small room. With the JVC, you are getting pretty close to a auditorium size, though the vocal is more forward(as in you are setting near the front row seating)

IM03 is good value for money and sounds really good(nothing wrong with sound, good bass, good treble, good mids) in my books. Though the JVC is of a higher tier, much better timbre and texture, and a whole lot more bass.

Westones are usually lush sounding and more forgiving on bad recordings and has the speed of BA drivers.

So it all depends on your budget and listening taste.
