If the mic and volume control is not that necessary, perhaps you can try the JVC FX-Z100, now with a promotional price of $168 (usual $299) which I think can really suit to the genres you're listening. Check out Marshall Mode EQ also and Fischer Audio Consonance V2, both with built-in microphone for hands-free talking and skipping of music tracks. Audition units are available in both stores.

Those with detachable cables whereby you can change to cable with mic will be good for your requirements, you can consider Audio Technica ATH-IM03 and Ultimate Ears UE900.

Or you could get the Xiaomi Piston for much cheaper as a backup.

For your brother, maybe the Dunu DN1000, a triple hybrid iem.
Definitely doesn't lack bass, and it's 200+ iirc.
