Your rig (mp3 players, amps, soundcard etc): HTC Desire S / Apple iPad (gen 1), perhaps iPhone 5
What type of usage (movies/ gaming/ music etc): Music/Gaming
File format used in your source (i.e. flac, mp3 etc): MP3
Genre of music you listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc): Soundtrack, Dance, Pop, Rock.
Headphone / earphone type (closed, open, cirumaural, IEM etc): Closed-back.
Other requirements (if any) (mic, volume control, 5.1ch, 7.1ch etc): A mic would be nice (for gaming) however not really necessary.
Budget (in figures): Below $300, preferably below $200

I've been using the Sony MDR-570LP for almost 2 years now, and it's starting to fail on me. I like the bass on it but I was thinking it needed more clarity and a little more power.

If power's also an issue regarding the quality of audio, I'm also open to looking for a portable amplifier. (I must admit though that I am a complete greenhorn.) Looking for it to be affordable and bang-for-buck.

Below are some pieces I'd want to hear:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

Thanks for the recommendation of the M50, went down to Stereo ION on Wednesday and tried it out. I preferred the ATH-M50s/LE over the ATH-M50, and I was wondering if I would require an amplifier if I were to purchase the ATH-M50s/LE for my appliances (HTC Desire S, iPhone 5, iPad 1). If so, what would you recommend if my budget was $200?

Was planning to but then a sudden increase from ath cks77 to customs feels a little weird :s22: . dont know why but just feel ears might not really feel the difference :s13: so will probably go with universals for now.

Yes different mp3 player should be different sounding depending on the DAC being used inside =) You can also try the Sennheiser IE80 as well =)
Stereo your one stop headphones and earphones store in Singapore

So technically a mp3 player should sound better than a handphone even when same iems are used? any other recommendations? would be nice if there are few choices :s13:

Would like to ask for recommendations!

- Your rig: S3 or Ipod Classic (Ampless)
- What type of usage: 80% music, 20% movies
- File format used in your source: MP3 320kbps
- Genre of music you listen to: quite diverse but mostly mainstream stuff like maroon5
- Headphone / earphone type:closed headphones
- Other requirements: currently using futuresonics atrios, so I would prefer a headphone closer to the sound signature but with wider soundstage and better instrumental separation. tried the grados sr80 and loved it! is there something close but with closed back
- Budget (in figures): 200-300!
