Help for a new DIY PC (1st timer)

Hi HWZ bros & sis,

this will be my fist time building a pc and moi needs some comments on parts as well as best places for parts procurement as well as pricing. Below is the list of parts moi has decided on :

ASUS H170 PRO GAMING MOBO + I7-6700 CPU (stock cooling) = 678

CRUCIAL/KINGSTON 8GB DDR4 RAM X 2 = 100

SAMSUNG EVO 850 SSD 250GB = 139

WD BLACK HDD 2TB = 188

MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X = 819

CORSAIR CS 650M PSU =140

NZXT S340 CASE = 170

WIN 10 = 158

DVD READER (JUST FOR OS INSTALLATION) = 23

USB WIFI CARD( router in living room ) = 70

Total = 2485

Rig will mainly be used for gaming as well as for trying out photoshop/video editing in the future for exposure and interest building. Please enlighten moi on any more value for money options, more savings will be appreciated hehe

Maybe win10 can get the education edition from Reddit for only $2x+ dollar. 1070 GPU can get the zotac for 555 or 450 with discount code with 5 yrs warranty even.

Is it better to separate SSD into one for OS and another for games? Or better to put both on the same SSD?

Ohh sounds pretty cheap, but i might still stick with the cd though, i heared driver installation is quite a hassle and i dont really know how to create flashdrive. Btw, whats the diff between the zotac 1070 and the msi 1070? i notice quite a huge price diff, near 250.

i guess the cheaper the better ba hehe, hopefully wont drop spec too much, better spec for same price or same spec for lower price recommendations will be nice.

i heared that separating is better, but if got space to spare can put current playing main game onto ssd and transfer out if not playing it so often.

This depends on you. If u want to do that its fine. But I would just buy a bigger space and combine them together.

Msi version has a better cooler hence the more expensive price but in terms of performance they are almost the same. So if you are not concern with the gpu temperature then I see no reason why not to get the zotac version instead. 5 years warranty even.
The temp on load for zotac is about 70+ if you are ok with it. Anything wrong you still have 5 year warranty to back it up so no worries.

Ah actually was referring to the palit 1070 dual fan version at 555. Got mix up with the zotac one.

Palit 1070 also can consider. Can use some lazada code to reduce the 555 price tag also. Or just stick with zotac for the 5 years warranty.

The things that I am deciding are:

1) feeling rich get samsung, on budget zotac.
2) get msi gaming X/Z(2 slots) or Asus strix OC(2 slots) or Palit SJS(2.5 slots) or Zotac AMP Extreme(2.5 slots) if dun want to OC as they have out of the box OC.
3)SF, FSP, Corsair ; 600W and above if consider SLI else can get 550W
4) just get the cheapest ram if not OC or require ram to be super good for your benchmark.

I don't know if i understand your qn but oh well, just give it a shot.
Its a yes and no question depends on certain points.

If u are comparing GPU for example founders edition vs maybe msi gaming x, technically u pay more(price comparison when it was released in SLS) and u get faster speed.

For SSD. some people go for reliability, some speed, some mix of both or their favorite brands. I personally own Sandisk ultra II and Samsung 850 evo, their technical specs iirc samsung is faster and cost $16 more when i bought it($109 vs $125 @ it show) but when booting up OS, i don't really notice much difference between the 2.
My friend bought 850 pro 256GB which cost more than 250GB evo was because of the warranty, 5 years for evo compared to 10 years on the pro

Maybe those samsung 950 pro owners can tell u if paying even alot more for that is worth it or not.

At the end of the day. if there is something that works just as well or no real world difference in performance as the more expensive one. Get that instead.(I think someone mentioned about RAM, which is also a good example if u are on a budget or just wanna save up)
