For w510 , someone told me that the laptop is more durable . while the y460 is not as durable due to Rollcage Armour . Designed to pass 8 rigorous MilSpec tests
(physical shock, thermal shock, altitude, dust,
vibration, humidity, heat and cold) .

For Lenovo y460 will spoil easily ?

Do you think they will warranty you if you drop the thinkpad and the LED Panel breaks?
If it is not guaranteed it doesn't exist.
All laptops (lest Toughbooks) are not warrantied against accidents so your "point" is invalid.

ok i think i will go for Lenovo IdeaPad™ Y460P BUT y is it so cheap ? cheap = not very good . there is a reason for it to be so cheap right ? WHY? who can answer me ?

Firstly thinkpad W510 is a workstation that explain why it's so expensive.

Rollcage design, anti shake harddisk, hardware encryption for password and fingerprint. lots of stuffs.

the Y460P is actually a better laptop to W510 if u do not need the above following....

It is a 4 core, 8 threaded processor 2630QM... it's even better then the i7-720QM which W510 uses...

The W510 is super heavy as i'm using it. Almost 3kg with battery+adapter... the adapter is like a BRICK. seriously...

cause it's not a thinkpad

It will spoil easily if you don't really take care of it.
As long as you make sure nothing bad happens to it , you are fine.
After all , I don't think any laptops would 'spoil' themselves.

Actually S series is a pretty good series. Never have issue with it before.
I will prefer Fujitsu made in japan anyway then Lenovo , thinkpad is no longer IBM.
How I miss the IBM notebook of old

I don't think you have this question answered yet.
Cheap does not mean lousy.
It could be cheap due to competition (lots of even cheaper models from acer, I just got myself one). If Acer can do it, why not the rest? The question you should ask is why are other laptops so much more expensive? Fujitsu, my guess is mainly becos of the brand, and the made in japan mark. Just like branded goods.

The main reason why the W510 is so expensive is that it is based on THINKPAD (also considered branded goods, which is bought over from IBM)

Look at the market, all Lenovo laptops with the thinkpad embossed are more expensive than their own line-up. Not sure if they took over IBM's reliability in their thinkpad laptops thou.

Next, you are comparing 2 totally different laptops in terms of the form factor. 13.3" and 15.6". This changes alot of things when considering for a laptop.
You should not be buying based on whether they are good laptops or not as the first consideration but rather try to fit your needs.

Ask yourself these questions:

Do you mind the weight? Do you need the big screen?
[I know you say you are a boy and you don't about the weight, but still go try them out. taking 2~3kg to and fro from each lecture is a tiresome thing, over time you will be envy of those with below 2kg laptops]

Do you like the brand??
[I personally have no inclination on both brands, so I won't choose them]

Budget?
[I understand you do not have a budget, so actually you have more choices out there! Check back the first 2 questions and don't limit yourself to only the choices here.]

The lenovo y460 cost only 1.2k . cheap = not gd ? there must be a differents between y460 and w510 . 1.2k and a 2k .

Y so much on the different pricing ? Meaning lousy ? easy spolit?

You see that NVIDIA Quadro FX880M on the thinkpad? that's an expensive card. it's a niche market card. The 4-yr international warranty is also expensive but very useful. The build quality on the thinkpad is also better.

The pricing is good for both laptops. Might be a tad more expensive for the W510 but it's not overly unfair overpricing.

Yea laptop is to fit your needs . I think Lenovo ideapad y460p is cheap and most worth to buy . I can save money to buy other things such as razor keyboard and mouse . Lenova also have the graphic card that is class 2 enough for me to play my game . However the processsor is a little slower 2ghz . But turbo boost can boost up to 2.8. Many say it is automatic but i would love it to be Manuel . Can we check that whether the machine is running on how many GHz . Or is there a method to change manually to using the higher processor rate . Come on IT pros . Show me what you got . Hardware zone no IT pros ? I called the Lenovo they have no idea how to change . No one in the world know how ? Lmao .

It's automatic so that your CPU doesn't eat so much power at all times , to conserve battery life , I believe.

Apparently you don't learn, do you?

As a thinkpad user myself i would say go for the thinkpad. i have to bring my w500 to school everyday for 2 years and sure it might be heavy but what it has been to me make it very worth all the hassle. Once i had a a key plucked from my keyboard (due to my ichy fingers) and i called the thinkpad support hotline. the next day 9am, they came to my house and replaced my board no questions asked. They even help me when they noticed while service-ing that my battery had losen its carrying charge and replaced my battery too again without any cost.

Now i use a macbook for school for the past 4 months and already problems like the battery leaking has occured. Now my thinkpad has been going strong for 3 years and if you want reliability just get the thinkpad bro.

Btw, between the thinkpad and ideapad there is a huge difference. The thinkpad has a much better overall build, a better keyboard, MUCH better service and for professional graphic use, a much better gtx card too.
