To those who say follow your doctor. Carry on - you should.

I told my specialist more than 10 years ago about Keto diet. She said she cannot recommend as it's not recommended. I send her papers and studies.

I met her 6 months later. And then 1 year. I lost weight and my symptom become a lot better. She told me they are doing studies and if there's study volunteer, she will let me know. Today keto is a medical intervention in NUH and around the world - not just for diabetes.

Statin reduces CoQ10 , potential liver injury, insulin resistance. People on statin usually has lower energy. What do you want ? Take statin to lower cholesterol ? And why is your brain has 25% of your cholesterol ? Is cholesterol the evil or something else ? Or a combination of ? What's the root cause?

Your doctor is treating your symptom or the root cause ? If the doctor is treating the latter then carry on else pls run far far away.

Medical science and approval takes a long time. So are medical and diet myth.

DYOR.
Hopefully you eating veggies, good oil, organic fat and nuts not farm fed fatty roast meats and lard. Otherwise, is no diff.

W/o medication… likely bigger problem… healthy eating is not easy, need a lot of discipline

“Highlighting how unhealthy food can be like a poison, a nutritionist told CNA podcast Heart of the Matter: “It's not going to kill you immediately. But it might lead you on the pathway to chronic diseases, which eventually will lead to complications.”

So have you gone for this test ?
If yes how much was it , polyclinic , hospital or clinic ?
i have not done so myself.. this test has not really catch on in Singapore. When i asked my GP about it, she seemed a little clueless about it herself.

FYI the leading Hospital in this is Changi General Hospital , and I have attended their free lunch talk twice on this topic and the lead in this talk was Dr Loh Wann Jia a Consultant endocrinologist. I guess if you want to do this test need to go thru polyclinic and than an appointment with her, so the total cost could be high.

Ok I think I can post here.

Dropped from 299 > 270 > 203 for total cholesterol within 2 years or so. On ezetimibe, but real driver is my change in lifestyle very recently in the last 6months.

Basically diet mainly lean protein (try to hit 1.2g for every kg of weight), some carbs and mostly veggies. 1 cheat day in the week.

Exercise:
- everyday try to hit 10k steps
- gym HIIT workout 2x per week
- run 2-3x per week
- weights 1-2x let week
Still experimenting with the mix but trying to target 1 activity per day min

Supplements nothing fancy - Vit D, vit c, zinc, l-arginine. Most of it not cholesterol related, so not sure to follow

Good luck !

If I may ask what is the cost of ezetimibe for 1 month ?

Here is the BEST solution WITHOUT medication:
Eat 1.5 meals a day instead of 3 meals.
Good lunch at 12pm. And super light dinner at 6pm. Cut all your snacks at night. See your results within 1 month.
