So is there a consultation fees ?

directly below the table if you read through the page:

For walk in tests, there is a consultation rate of $49.05 NETT. For Screen For Life or Healthier SG patients, consultation is fully subsidised.

Can recommend me ur Dr?

A doctor can assess your risk and monitor your progress. Starting with a general practitioner (GP) is a good first step, and they may refer you to a specialist, like a lipidologist or cardiologist, for advanced care if needed.

Lifestyle modification is very important..always eat a low-fat diet, exercise and control your weight.

People on low carb diet better beware of it's long term issues. Being on ketosis is the body on stress mode, u can get short term results but it strains your body, your organs.

I've been there, low carving for like 5 years. lots of good results on a low carb diet for short time and eventually body deteriorated. Starts to have hairloss, eczema, hypertension, restlessness, can't sleep.

I switched to a 80% whole plant food diet and all symptoms just went away. The gold standard is as close to a whole plant food based diet as possible.

It's sad that people rather listen to influencers hype diets than doctors.

i am taking 20mg atorvastatin and oats daily. :frown:

How old are you? My 20ish nephew has numbers similar as you (first tested at 19 yo during pre enlistment check).

He participated in the below. So far only had blood drawn then later will have other follow ups with probably specific targeted meds therapy. If he has the gene, then his dad (my brother) can also be tested.

https://www.straitstimes.com/singap...olesterol-levels-under-new-national-programme

*the test is no cost to him due to his NS status. If my brother (on statin since about 40 yo) later wants to test (if nephew is positive), then cost is about $100+ after subsidies.

Most time doc will let you off with dietary advice at around 130.

The 'pressure' will usually come when one hits above 160.
Once a person start cholesterol meds, meaning forever cannot stop taking?

or can take then one day stop and dont take?

Just did a health check and cholesterol numbers are:
- Total Cholesterol: 252 mg/dL
- HDL Cholesterol: 51 mg/dL
- LDL Cholesterol: 182 mg/dL
- TC/HDL Ratio: 4.95
- Triglycerides: 95 mg/dL

Need to start taking meds? Any other advice?

My general understanding is this:

If LDL hits above 160, doc will give dietary advisory + exercise to the patient. Patient to re-test after 3 months. If still fails, another chance of 3 months. If still fails, then will 'pressure' to take med. With 2 chances and if still cannot pass = either patient's high LDL not responsive to diet and exercise OR the patient is not disciplined in such.

If the case of starting med is due to non-disciplined and the patient suddenly one day decided to really self discipline to try again, can discuss with the doc to stop med and try again. If numbers didn't improve after 3 months, then the med is likely to be for life.

*above is applicable for those who have no other underlying conditions such as high BP and diabetes.

Guys,

Go check out which body organ regulates, control these levels:

- HDL
- LDL
- Cholesterol
- Triglycerides

Liver !!!!!

Go check and understand will Liver causes high LDL and high Cholesterol ?

Solve the root causes !!

Most people is commonly 1) input junk and "toxic" food daily into body [processed food, sugary food/drink, fried food] or 2) not drinking enough daily water [2L per day] or 3) sleep well.

Stop eating:
- fast food
- luncheon meat, hotdogs, ham, biscuits , cakes, bread, cookies, donuts etc
- fried food (fried chicken, fried you tiao, fried pork, fried carrot cakes, fried kway tiao etc)
- sugary drinks, sweets, cakes (plenty of sugar added)
- buffet, pizzas, potatoe chips, crackers
- lousy or inflammatory cooking oil and ingredients
- mooncakes (full of sugary and simple carbs and under high heat baking, very unhealthy)
- BBQ like Bak Kwa, BBQ chicken wings

Transfats existed in most FRIED Food !!

Liver cannot handle Transfat and causes fatty liver and liver inflammation !!

Above will make your liver SICK and give one metabolic health conditions [ hbp, high cholesterol, high blood sugar etc ] or even other health conditions as toxic and inflammation accumulated and build up inside body !!!

Another factor is obesity which is also linked to food/drink intake [processed food, sugary food/drink, fried food, overeat - wrong portion].

Most overweight people tend to have fatty liver (though skinny people may also have fatty liver). Many of my friends have fatty liver.

Once have fatty liver = likely will fail cholesterol numbers.

Rid the fatty liver then cholesterol numbers likely will improve (my personal case as a 'skinny fat' person).
