TS pls don't leave it un-check.
My Cholesterol level has been borderline high for the past 8-10 years.

I have regularly exercise (at least once a week), regularly monitor my condition and I believe I should be fine.

Last year, my blood pressure suddenly shoot up to 160/100. Decided to go for more details check. The finding, two of my heart blood vessels were 100% blocked.
Any symptoms like breathless?

My reading is better than yours yet I am taking 20mg.

Total - 227mg/dl
HDL - 87mg/dl
LDL - 133mg/dl
Ratio - 2.6
Triglycerides - 30mg/dl

I am on low carb diet, practice IF, eat 2 meals a day. Reduced fried food and fatty meat, hardly eat chips, only nuts. Occasionally will eat overnight oats. Also exercise everyday, sometimes even twice a day. Will have cheat meals sometimes like desserts, breads, oat or plain crackers.

No other issues like HBP or high sugar.

Think my body just refuse to produce good cholesterol no matter what I eat or do.
My numbers are similar to yours.

I ignore LDL but measure ApoB and Lp(a) instead. These are latest and accurate markers.

Also, I did calcium scan and echo since I'm above 40s.

I can skip meds for now.

Is your job stressful?
The body will create its own cholesterol if you are consistent in high stress state. Relax and have more sleep.

doctor will had told u do wat ah
cut down red meat
exercise
if need med doc sld have advised
Both spreading fake info. Are you guys doctor? I specifically asked doctor, they say stress won't cause high cholesterol and red meat don't cause high cholesterol. They are meat lovers, just never eat fatty meat

Do you still need to check the Apo (B)? I thought LP(a) should be sufficient.

Apo(B) is the smaller particle for LDL right? usually all of this is add on. APO (1), Apo(B), and LP (a)

Second this one. Losing weight is the fastest way to getting back a healthy cholesterol level.

My BMI is low (16) but had high bad cholesterol. Diet n exercise play a huge part in cholesterol control.

It could be a case of discordant. ie low LDL but high ApoB for diabetic or opposite. I happen to belong to the latter. High LDL but good ApoB. It means my LDL are the bigger and so called fluffy type.

ApoB is like the number of vehicles on the road.

Lp(a) just check once will do. This can be a silent killer as its more atherogenic.

So imagine if your LDL is good but Lp(a) is undetected and high, you confirm will build plagues at a faster rate. This type MUST take meds.

I see. So actually the Apo (B) is just to confirm if you have high LDL, right?
Do I still need to monitor my Apo(B) if my LDL is low? also no diabetes from Hba1c test.

I kept adding all the add on (Apo-A, Apo-b, and LP-a) in the past 5 years test, but don't think it is necessary since my LDL is still within the limit.

LDL is just 1 type of particle. ApoB measures all the particles.

Lp(a) just measure once will do unless you have some other meds or chronic diseases. Example some statins can raise Lp(a). But net effect is better because LDL is lower.

So my suggestion is to do standard lipid plus ApoB regularly. Then you can monitor their trend.

I can claim co insurance. So I will do semi-annually. If ownself pay, just do annually.

Once above 40s, do CIMT, calcium scan and echo at least once.

1 simple test you can do at home. Google ankle brachial index test.

What worked for me was increasing fibre and lowering saturated fats intake.

yes. important point here.

alot of oil is trapped inside the intestines. so u need to "scrape" it out gently using fiber products. like fibogel or psyllium husk.

Ok Thanks.
From what I observe, LDL is really dependent on the diet. Regular cardio only can help with TG and maybe increase the HDL. But TG confirm will be much lower when I start my regular cardio few years ago.

Avoid sugar.
Read ingredients list and don buy food and beverages that use hydrogenated oil, shortening and margarine.

Do not order drink that use milk power like bubble tea (mostly chemically processed dairy). Don eat cream / dressing from bread, sandwiches salad and burgers. Avoid pastries , snacks and processed food too.

Everyday exercise and control Ur diet for 3 months diligently. Eat oats. U would see huge reduction in Ur bad cholesterol

Many r unaware that by controlling sugar , it makes a wonder in our health. Sugar is also the root cause for weight gain too. Many thought that consuming more fats made us fat. Tat is a wrong mindset

ya i think its a DNA thing. i hardly eat actually.

stop eating fried food.

stop eating highly toxic chips like Doritos which has medium chain triglycerides.

cut meals to 1-2. do a 16h fast. eat early dinner, skip lunch if possible, usually i skip lunch in the weekends or WFH days.

for me i walk 10-12km once a week. other days also need to walk till 10k steps.
Already done all the above. Ya, could be my body issues. No one in my family has HC.

What test done to check the block?calcium score or directly check the vessels test?

Any symptoms?
