High fuel consumption

My 2nd hand 08 lancer has abnormal high FC. Full tank 400km.
Everything else is stock and rev dont pass 3k rpm. Last major servicing 3 months ago. What can be done to solve this issue? Mine is a manual ride.

Engine overhaul?
Refresh ecu?

i was considering lancer before i got my manual avante in Jan.
Avante. FC around 12-13km/litre - tank is 53+- i can hit around 650-680km.

u should check if that is the norm? and how big is your tank? we cant tell when you only give indication of the 400KM and no idea how much petrol is used.

i pump 37L into my 45L tank and usually give me slightly over 400.
no i am not light footed.
i like to rev till 3k all these..

Avante has a 53L fuel tank, whereas Lancer has a 50L tank.

Low fuel indicator will light up when there are only about 10 litres of petrol left.

Bendi85 pumps 40L each time when he pumps full tank, and he gets 400km. About 10km per litre.

Cheepoozz, u mean u everytime run out ur tank then go pump 53L one shot? I think your low fuel indicator would have lighted up by ~ 520km. It's bad for your fuel pump if u run it empty to get 650-680km...

The 4th and 5th tanks were V-Power and Shell 98, mileage up to 10.8km/litre.

Now I am trying out Caltex Techron 98 and see how

avante 53L very likely on paper only, actual figure might be more

at 1/4 mark, i go jaybee pump til vomit can squeeze about 50L.

although i agree Cheepoozz way of calculation is inaccurate

Could be a whole range of issues. Your throttle body might need to be looked at? Air filter cleaned recently? Set your idling rate lower maybe?

Tyres can cause a lot of drag and increase fuel consumption.

The main killer, however, would be stop and go traffic. If you're clocking your miles on the expressways then you'll get better mileage.

If you think this car consumes a lot of petrol then further downgrade lor. Get a QQ? That will run on the smell of gas. Alternatively you could sell your car and take public transport.

For Shell, u need the Shell Escape Card to get 10% discount, then depend on which UOB card u use, u get additional rebate ranging from 3-7%. So effectively is 12+% to 16+% discount.

For SPC, u need SPC&U Card to get 15% discount, then use POSB Everyday card to get another 3% rebate. Effectively 16+% discount.

For Caltex, HSBC, OCBC and SAFRA card give u 14% discount straight away.

Esso is the one I have yet to try. What credit card can I use?

U can try lor

No, changing gear oil only affects the lube in your transmission box - have you seen how dirty it gets after a few years? Small bits of metal from the gear meshes get chipped off and run with the oil - that's why you need to change it. But it won't affect fuel consumption.

Haha ya lor damn suay every time got FC issue.
I got Klear Karbon to clear liao lea..gear oil also change before.
I suspect the previous owner got do some mod and tuning.
